i can't stress how fucked the private school system is and how devastating it is when you realise that your chances of success are reduced so drastically by not being able to afford to pay to go to school.

7% of the UK population are privately educated. 44% of actors, 52% of journalists, 38% of the england and scotland men's national rugby teams,43% of the england men's national cricket team, 65% of judges, 74%(!) of medical practitioners, 44% of politicians, and 20% of musicians in the UK are privately educated. the average cost of private education for one pupil for secondary school (years 7-11/S1-S6) is £165k. the average income of a household over this time (5 years) is £100k.

93% of the population are all but locked out of whole industries, particularly the arts, purely because of which school they went to. it's not fucking normal!!!
