So this is 2003. Long before the Blue Ivys and Barclays and the flawless, pristine branding of Jay-Z as President of Brooklyn. Folks are wearing coke white Uptowns (which I guess are coming back?), Nelly is winning Grammys, Bad Boys II is in theaters, AJ and Free are on television and Lebron James is in his rookie season. It’s a #Peak #Black year all around.

What’s weird is when I was younger this photo is what I pictured in my head whenever I heard “Ain’t No Nigga.” I guess we see how that turned out.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Hov with his shirt off. I can’t unsee that.

I honestly can’t even talk about Beyonce in this photo so don’t ask me to.

You just get the feeling after staring at this for 20-25 minutes that they get each other. There’s a real deep connection there that this image hints at.

They both just look so comfortable.

Like, the “we just woke up together and a professional photographer happened to be in the room so we might as well give him what he wants so he’ll leave and we can lay back down and look at your magazine spread and then your highlight reel while splitting a bowl of lucky charms,” comfortable. 

This is truly one of the #peak couples that never really was and still got away. Such a shame.

Hopefully this picture will remind us all that, yes, some positive did come out of “K.O.B.E."  That positive?

Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the March On Washington where Dr. King shared his dream with hundreds of thousands of people. Those of us who weren't there will never fully understand the magnitude of what they accomplished that day. This piece from Time Magazine should help bridge that gap.  This a really well done piece talking about the movement up to the march w/ commentary by:  -Congressman John Lewis - Spoke at the march at the ripe age of 23. - Harry Belafonte - 1st artist to sell 1 million copies of an LP, he won the 1st Emmy awarded to a Black TV producer, & focal piece of the Civil Rights Movement - Julian Bond - A student leader of the Civil Rights Movement  -Rachel Robinson, wife of Jackie Robinson
