but uh, you guys know it’s not technically inactive right?
tumblr has this thing called a URL release. if a blog has been inactive for 24 months, meaning no one has logged into it at all in that time, they release the url. they do this by adding -blog to the end of the url. beforehand, they’ll send an email of warning to the user, and unless they log in, the url is released. the blog isn’t shut down, that person just loses that url.
my best friend hasn’t been on tumblr since 2019, his blog ends in -blog.
i believe the old mumbo jumbo blog also ends in -blog.
@sootings doesn’t end in -blog. it’s not sootings-blog. meaning that, within the last 24 months, someone had to have logged into it.
there’s a nonzero chance that wilbur has seen the thousands of mentions saying ‘fuck you’

tag guide for non-mcytblr people posting content on tumblr + extra tips for content creators !
i’ve noticed that a lot of people from mcyttwt post their art here on tumblr, and that’s obviously great! but the tag system here is WAY different from twitter, and i think you need to take note of this especially when you tag triggers.
this is also a guide if you want your posts to appear on the tag a lot more!
DON’T:
put the trigger in the TEXT of the post. this may work if you put it before the content, but it doesn’t filter the post out.
DO:
if art, don’t even try putting the trigger as text for the post. if fanfiction, feel free to do so before the text for the fanfic. BUT, it is MANDATORY to put your triggers in the TAGS no matter what the post. put the trigger first, then add “tw” at the end of it.
for example:
#gun tw
#blood tw
#gore tw
#eyestrain tw
DON’T:
overtag! while it’s okay to add all the tags in the world, i’m telling you, a lot of tags might as well be redundant.
DO:
tag the character, the smp/minecraft series they’re in, and a few art tags.
for example:
#sapnap fanart #dream team #dream team fanart #mcyt sapnap #c!sapnap #dream smp #mcyt #fanart #art
CAN BE SHORTENED TO:
#sapnap #fanart #art #dream smp #mcyt
it’s easier to sift through the tags here on tumblr, so overtagging isn’t really necessary, and it actually risks your post getting remove from tags.
DON’T:
ADD MINECRAFT TAGS NOT RELACED TO MCYT. do not add any minecraft tag, mineblr tag, ANY OF THOSE TAGS. DON’T.
DO:
add the cc in question, add #mcyt, add the name of the cc’s minecraft series, THAT’S IT. it bothers a lot of the non-mcyt fans on tumblr if you tag incorrectly, so please be conscious when you pick your tags. again, DON’T OVERTAG.
DON’T:
tag content creators that aren’t even in the post.
DO:
tag appropriately. please do this for people to easily sift through the tags.
OTHER TIPS FOR CONTENT CREATORS:
tumblr’s tagging system eyes the first 5 tags you put on a post, acknowledges the first 20 tags from time to time, then neglects the rest of the tags per post. tag carefully. it also removes any post appearing from the tags if it has any nsfw term or swear.
tumblr also has a bad relationship with overtagging accounts, or adding links. one or two links are okay, but too much can remove the post from tags. the removals are quite sporadic so just be wary.
if the post doesn’t appear in the tag, editing the post after it’s made can actually put your post in the tag again, so feel free to do that!
add a unique tag that denotes that YOU made this piece so that it’s easier for others to search through your account for the art that you yourself have made. a simple “#my art” would work, but you can do things like “#<your name> art” or “#<your name> drawings”, etc etc.
make a sideblog that only reblogs your content! you can link it on your bio for people to easily see it. plus, it acts as a portfolio for future use!
self-reblog at different times of the day! i promise you, it does work because different people that follow you have different timezones.
tag posts that are long as “#long post”.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND RB EVERYONE’S ART.
