ice will only melt if it is surrounded by non-natural light. this means that ice can be placed in desert biomes and not melt.

mob spawners will not spawn anything unless the player is within 16 blocks of them. mobs will only spawn within 8 blocks of the spawner.

cobwebs have a blast resistance that's five times higher than sandstone.

cobblestone was the first block to be created. the texture comes from an old project of notch's, rubydung.

obsidian cannot be destroyed by TNT. it has a blast resistance of 6,000. bedrock, the only other block that cannot be destroyed by TNT, has a blast resistance of 18,000,000.

grass can grow underground if you place torches or other light-emitting blocks around it.
