what’s wrong with cliches? — lee minho
badboy!minho, highschool au(?)
you’re convinced you are trapped in a shitty wattpad fanfiction
because the moment you met lee minho, your life has been turing into a huge cliche... not that you’re complaining exactly
after all, what is there not to love about being with one of the intimidating “bad boys” in your school?
despite all the things that people say about him “he’s too scary” “i saw he has bruises on his knuckles from fighting” “he always hangs around alleyways...” the moment you started talking to him, all of the rumours you’ve ever heard about him were pretty much debunked
“he’s too scary”. he doesn’t mean to be, really! he just can’t help it, that’s just his resting face. he might look mad but he’s just probably thinking about what he’s going to when he goes home to his cats or what he wants to eat for dinner tonight. he may look intimidating at times, but that facade disappears the moment he smiles. the kind of smile that you can’t resist but to smile back. the smile that you eventually ended up falling for.
“i saw he has bruises on his knuckles from fighting”. actually yes, but actually no. he does boxing so that’s why his knuckles have bruises sometimes. you hate to see him hurt but you know he’s passionate about it so you cheer him on and take care of him when he gets home. you have a first aid kit ready and you can sort of thank him for helping you learn how to properly tend wounds. because you are so used to tending his wounds, you’ve bought a bunch of cute bandaids for the two of you! he says he hates them, but he secretly loves them. whenever he looks down at his hands and sees the bandaids, he can’t help but smile, remembering how you’ve taken care of him and carefully placed those bandaids in his hands with so much love and care. and they’re painfully cute. just like you.
“he always hangs around alleyways...”. if you didn’t know him, you would find this suspicious too. but because you know him so well, you’ve started thinking of this as endearing. after all, the only reason he goes around there at all is to feed the stray cats that hang around alleyways. he always has some cash with him ready to go and drop by to the convenience store to buy some food for the cats. he’s taken with you quite a lot of times. if you too are out on a date and he spots a feline friend hanging around somewhere, he will instantly break into a small smile and shyly ask you if you can accompany him to the convenience store to buy something. you have countless of pictures of him taking care of random cats and they always make you smile. he’s really just an angel. your angel.
you chuckle at yourself, thinking about how in love you really are with him. it’s so cliche, oh so, so painfully cliche, it’s almost comical. but you really think you are luckiest person on earth, because not only did you get to meet him, but you’ve also gotten to be his one and only significant other. how? you don’t understand that either. it’s almost scary, thinking about how out of all the people in the school he chose to be with you, but when he smiles at you, you feel your worries melting away.
and little did you know, he feels the exact same about you. how despite sometimes when he feels the world is against him, you’re there for him, holding his cold hands (which are filled with bandaids, thanks to you). yes, it’s cliche. and yes, he is perfectly aware. but he doesn’t care. and neither should you. after all, what’s wrong with a little cliche once in a while?
