honestly i was starting to feel bad at how dire i used to portray my abusive situation because over the past months it was sort of getting better but then i remembered that any perceived "normalness" in that house is just another way to keep me tethered to my family and isnt actually them sincerely becoming better by their own volition. i even removed the "abusive" in my ko-fi goal because i felt guilty ! fuck, i guess were back to the drawing board

ok what you said about the racist writing but definitely about gamzee too. Because what do you mean you (@ hussie) wrote a murderous teenage boy that has to “numb himself” with government-issued substances to cope with the loss of his father, and then you as the writer double-down and make him a murderer permanently stuck in psychosis, permanently irredeemable and hated by ALL of the characters and even YOU? (He posted a drawing of gamzee burning in fire in the past week. Bro it’s been 10 years and you wrote him. A 13 year old kid. A child.) Everyone goes out of their way to infantilize the white-coded characters especially for their actions in childhood but characters like Meenah & Gamzee never receive this treatment, despite them ALL being liars/murderers/abusers!

And let’s not dismiss the fact his father-coded figure is literally silenced, ALSO depicted as an abuser to women on top of all of the same stereotypes, minus the on-the-nose racist substance abuse symbolism. Idk homestuck was always so blatant about the “black men & women = violent, untrustworthy, and aggressive people” narrative and hussie always seemed to double down on that with the way he stereotyped these characters (gamzee/kurloz, meenah & damara like you mentioned, I would even go as far to say trickster mode / grimdark mode are even bigger magnifiers into this but maybe I’m stretching things. I feel like Andrew Hussie’s real feelings have always been apparent)

i agree with everything you said but im curious as to what you mean by trickster mode / grimdark mode being magnifiers ! ive always viewed trickster mode as something that made fun of the whitewashing in the fandom and its been such a long time since ive read the grimdark pages so i cant really say what it is or isnt
