Alternatives to Spotify and YouTube (ID requirement)
So I heard people are boycotting YouTube and Spotify because of the ID requirement thing??
Well good on you! Lots of other reasons to boycott Spotify as well (funding military AI, they pay musicians pennies for thousands of streams, their CEO is a billionaire). Here are some alternatives to streaming services:
CDs from the library
DVDs from the library
Mp3 player
Vinyl records
Cassettes
VHS tapes
I imagine if Spotify and YouTube go through with this they will lose a LOOOOOT of users. And I also predict that there will be an increase in physical media sales, which is exciting! Owning your own physical media means that a corporation can't take it away from you.
Your local library is an amazing resource. They usually have a large DVD and CD section. Going to thrift stores is another great option for finding physical media, and plus thrifting is good for the environment! So it's a win-win.
Technology to-do list:
Delete as many social media accounts as possible
Delete as many streaming services as possible
Pick up hobbies again
Feel at peace once again without the chaos of algorithms dictating your life
Oh no, it's been 3 months since I last posted on here! I joined Threads and Bluesky and fast forward to now and I remember why I don't like social media. So I'm back on Tumblr where I'll be talking about how I'm reducing my social media presence and just being more active on Tumblr in general. I feel like it's time to delete some accounts again.
To anyone just joining Tumblr and using it for the first time due to the Twitter ban in Brazil: welcome!
Tumblr is a million times better than X/Twitter.
There's lots of post formatting options and best of all Tumblr isn't owned by Elon Musk.
I deleted Twitter two years ago and don't regret it in the slightest. Welcome aboard!

Inciting rioters in Britain was a test run for Elon Musk. Just see what he plans for America
"If Musk chooses to “predict” a civil war in the States, what will that look like? If he chooses to contest an election result? If he decides that democracy is over-rated? This isn’t sci-fi. It’s literally three months away."
Delete 👏 Twitter 👏 now 👏
I deleted my Twitter account in March of 2022 after being on the platform for 8 years. Have you deleted yours?
Edit: Oops I forgot to add the option "I've never had an account on Twitter" 🤦♀️
Have you deleted your Twitter/X account?
No
Yes
Not yet but I'm planning on deleting it
I'm not going to delete my account
If Taylor Swift can influence the American elections, according to some of her delusional fans, then she can most definitely speak about Palestine. I’ve lost all my respect for her.
Her silence is deafening, sickening and disappointing…
So today I decided to look up Lana Del Rey's dad and came across this GQ interview and... wtf?
These celebrities only care about making money off of us "simple folks". They think we're stupid and only see us as a means of gaining more money for themselves.
I think it's really telling that her dad's first reaction to the phrase "nepo daddy" was that he could make money from it by selling merch.
And Lana? She uses words like "someone without a brain" and "simple folks". Her choice of words makes her come off as arrogant and like she sees every day people as stupid and on a lower level than her. Unbelievable. Block all of these celebrities.

So I saw something about Swifties For Palestine trending over on Twitter? I don't have a Twitter account anymore (I deleted it 2 years ago thank god), but I wanted to remind everyone that you can block people on Spotify.
Go to their account on the Spotify app, click the three dots next to the follow button, and select "Don't play this artist". This will block them.
I recommend doing this with Taylor Swift if you want to make an impact on how much money she makes since she's a top played artist on Spotify.

FOLLOW @blockoutnow | @2024blockout_ar |@chopping.block2024 BLOCK all the accounts they currently follow
This also applies to the blocked celebs on #BlockOut2024 list. I have no problem so far, but many others have said the celebs they blocked got unblocked automatically.
The fact that the blockout is working and has made several big celebrities and loads of influencers finally speak out about Palestine is just prove that we have all the power and that we need to keep talking about Gaza and what’s happening
Who I've blocked on Instagram so far for Blockout2024:
Taylor Swift
Zendaya
Ariana Grande
Cardi B
Nicki Minaj
Camila Cabello
Kylie Jenner
I'm tired now so I'm going to take a break lol. Next I'll be blocking some brands.
It's amazing how many celebrities have continued to stay silent while losing thousands of followers. Really makes you see what their priorities are.
Here's a brand blocklist I made yesterday, because I don't think only celebrities should be losing thousands of followers.
the shittiest human art will always be leagues better than the best ai "art". a child's finger paintings and macaroni crafts will always be better than a computer's subpar attempt at recreating the starry night. your stick figures and smiley faces will always surpass an algorithm's bastardized boticelli painting. the most mediocre hallmark movie will always be better than whatever bullshit sora churns out. the most cringeworthy "i'm 14 and this is deep" notes app poetry will always be better than whatever chatgpt can come up with. always
