Children of color are old enough to face racism when they’re born. Old enough to bear the weight of stereotypes & hate before their little eyes can focus. But somehow white kids are supposed to be too delicate & too shielded to even know race exists because somehow that might hurt them. When your definition of innocent child doesn’t include my babies? I know what you’re on & I don’t have any patience for the lies you tell yourself or your children.
Lately I’ve been getting most of my pep talks from Mister Rogers.
Great. Now I’m disappointing Mr. Rogers.
Mr. Rogers is not disappointed in you. He’s proud of you for listening and thinking about what he said, and he hopes it plants a seed where sometimes maybe you notice yourself making an unhealthy choice and recognize it, because that’s the first step towards growth towards your best and healthiest self, which is a journey and a process, not an ideal state of which you are falling short.
Mr. Rogers loves you for just your being you.
hello police this post made me cry
Native American protest is an element of film history that has largely been ignored by film historians, even though racist depictions were consistently called out by Indigenous activists since 1911.
“But it was okay back then!”
Native Americans: No, it fucking wasn’t.
Ive cried of laughter 3 times because of this set of tweets its so fucking funny help
Consent in Gaming: a guide for GMs and players to difficult subjects for amazing games
Sean K Reynolds’ and Shaunna Germain’s free, short ebook Consent in Gaming (from Monte Cook Games) is a beautifully thought-through exploration of how game-masters and players can negotiate their own boundaries before, during and after playing RPGs, in a way that allows everyone to be mindful and respectful of those boundaries without sacrificing fun or intensity of game-play.
Reynolds and Germain set out a concise and thorough set of explanations for why some players might be averse to some scenarios – not just sexual ones, either – and then move on to a set of practices and principles for GMs and other players to keep those limits in mind, and to recover gracefully when there are slipups.
RPGs are intense, wonderful ways to explore your imaginative limits and to create and deepen your friendships. But that same intensity and deepness meant that they can put people in difficult and even traumatic emotional states. Consent in Gaming is a marvellous resource for keeping things fun for everyone.

My favorite thing about Cheddar the dog is that either Holt or Kevin named him Cheddar and I honestly don’t know which option is funnier.
third, equally funny option: his name was already cheddar when they adopted him. both of them think it’s an absurd goddamn name but neither of them know you can just change an animal’s name if you don’t like it. no one ever told them and they’re both much too proper to even conceptualize this notion on their own. the dog was named cheddar and that’s very unfortunate but cheddar he will remain.
fourth, they were aware you could change an adopted animals name but let it remain Cheddar out of respect for his ‘birth’ parents
Fifth, they named it after the historic village of Cheddar, Somerset in England, unaware people will associate it more with the type of cheese
Sixth, they named him after the hard cheese from Cheedar in Somerset, England due the fact there are both orange and off-white types which parallels their pet’s coloring and Kevin and Raymond both appreciate the nobility of a product which is a cornerstone of a multibillion dollar cheese industry and has a history going back to the 12th century and furthermore
Seventh, Cheddar is the only type of cheese that they both love.
Eighth. Cheddar was Kevin’s mother dog, she chose the name and Kevin, dutiful son that he is, took him off her hands when she developed an allergy to dog dander at 78. Can you imagine? What unbridled weakness, and at her age. You see, Santiago, this why early exposure to allergens of all types is crucial for healthy antibody development and why I made a point to have as many encounters with low-level toxins as possible before my immune system was finished developing. You know, now that you and Peralta are discussing reproducing, you should really consider

The fact that Travis Willingham is the biggest scaredy-cat just adds to how ridiculous this man is. Who breaks all the stereotypes. “Giant, muscular, football-loving, jock, manly man plays dnd and loves being silly with his nerd friends, is absolutely terrified of little ghost girls.” Who is this guy
hot take: ‘chivalry’ is fine as long as it’s adapted to 21st century values. if you are a male, you SHOULD be aware that your female friends face certain issues that you as a male dont. acting on that awareness in a way that keeps your female friends safe, isn’t a bad thing.
like… opening doors isn’t rly chivalrous when it’s just a thing you ought to do for everyone. but real 21st century chivalry might be, like, standing between your female friend and the guy that’s trying to get her drunk, or offering to walk her home when it’s late.
if the ‘chivalry’ inconveniences everyone involved and you’re just doing it for your over-inflated male ego — ie, “no you’re the girl here, you HAVE to let me hold this door for you and do all these things for you even when you can do it yourself and im just slowing you down” — then it’s just outdated misogyny.
Chivalry was literally designed to make nobles aware of their power and influence so they don’t unintentionally harm people when trying to do their job of leading and protecting people. Modern chivalry should carry on that sentiment of men and white people becoming aware of their own power of privilege and influence to help and protect the lives of their peers.
*Not to inflate their egos, but because it’s the good thing to do and makes the world a better place to be.
Chivalry, at its core, involves being helpful to people who don’t have your advantages.
It involved generosity and protecting those weaker than oneself: including opening doors when doors were made of badly fit heavy wood and often got stuck, and women, especially undernourished exhausted-from-childcare women, had a harder time opening them. It involved not lying, and following through on your promises. (A guy who is consistently late with the accounting reports, which delays the whole team, is not dedicated to chivalry, no matter how polite he is on a date.)
Chivalry is a code of ethics that involves dedicating one’s strength and skills in service to others; it’s not based on gender roles.

The thing about Those White People Baby Names is the way they so poetically express the tension between individuality and rigid conformity. These parents all want to name their child something unique, because they value the concept of uniqueness, yet simultaneously they abhor it in practice… ergo, 30 different spelling variations on the most normative possible names. This homogeneity-masquerading-as-diversity is inseparable from capitalist consumer culture and in fact is directly analogous to the experience of walking into a grocery store and being asked to “choose” between 50 varieties of toothpaste with the same exact ingredients, 12 brands of laundry detergent, etc.

[ID: Two digital full-color sketches, one of Kravitz and the Raven Queen, the other of Istus and Taako, both against pale green backgrounds. In the first, the Raven Queen is standing, but crouched down slightly with her hands on her knees, saying, “Is there something you’re not telling me, Kravitz?” Kravitz, turned away from the viewer and looking up at her, nervously yells, “H-he’s just a friend mom!” Then, quieter, he says, “He’s out of my league anyway…” In the second, Istus is seated in a chair and knitting the fabric of reality, where she asks jovially, “So? Was he hot?” Taako, seen from behind, faces Istus and replies matter-of-factly, “He came from the depths of hell mother of course he’s hot.” /End]
From a Christian stand, would it be fair to consider Nationalism the worship of a false idol?
I’m just saying, if I had a replica of the golden cow and I stood in front of it in a golden cow t-shirt and golden cow hat with golden cow tattoos, held up a gun and threatened to shoot and kill anyone who disrespected the golden cow, or at the very least beat the shit out of them and remove them from their homes, I feel like it’d raise some red flags
Like yeah I worship God and follow His teachings above all else, but like… not if they go against the Golden Cow
AND THAT’S THE TEA
Too much of modern Christianity, especially evangelical Christianity, is wrapped up in the worship of their own ideas "conveniently" borrowing bits from Christian doctrine as it suits them & discarding the rest as soon as it threatens their confirmation bias.
They worship the idea of a god who sits in silent support of whatever pre-existing biases they have, which is an idol by any other name. Nationalism fits perfectly into this mindset, especially when the flag-waving is framed as an expression of faith in "God's chosen country/people".
