“I really think your kiddo will enjoy it! How old are they,” she asked. God, Aurora just loved children. They were just so innocent, imaginative, and adorable. “We um, have cookies n’ cream, strawberry, vanilla, and fudge!”
“Pardon?” She asked surprised before understanding. “Oh no, they are not mine” Mina chuckled. “I work at Tiny Tots” She explained “I missed them during holidays so I wanted to give them a little surprise” Mina smiled. “Which one is more requested by kids? I think cookies n’ cream and strawberry are the safest options...right?”
“I think that our cake pops are perfect for kiddos! They are small enough for a snack and they come on a stick so it won’t be too much of a mess. We also still have lots of flavors left in them today!” Aurora replied to the woman.
Mina nodded, thinking of the treat she was just being suggested. “I guess that would work” She said happily, feeling giddy with how her surprise was now becoming reality. “What flavors do you have?”
“Muchas gracias,” Adrianna replied, brows raising slightly at Mina’s follow up, the woman grinning. “Oh? And what is this price of yours?” The brunette nodded, then shrugged as her hands lifted and made the ‘half and half’ motion. “It depends on what you get? The food isn’t too bad, but the coffee isn’t that great. Or at least I should say it’s not very strong.” She admitted honestly, playfully lowering her voice when Mina leaned closer. “Right? And it usually happens at the finale so you have to wait until the next season…except for the show Constantine but that’s another story that I’m still frustrated by.” Adri laughed.
“Maybe a free coffee next time, or for us to grab some food and coffee next time and you pay for it...I’m not sure yet.” Mina played along, trying and failing to keep a serious face. She scrunched up her nose in reply to Adrianna’s words. “Next time you have night shift, give me a call and i will bring you real coffee then.” Mina nodded at her words, completely understanding her frustration. “I know!! and sadly they take forever to make the next season if they don’t cancel it.”
“The book dropping, though the other was a tad amusing, however completely my fault, I’m sorry about that.” He reassured with deep chuckle as he bent down to pick up the book from the floor. “The book looks fine to me, these text books were made pretty strong, I reckon you could stop a bullet with one of these.”
A playful yet soft groan left the woman’s mouth at his words “Oh no, don’t worry about it...I should be used to loud noises by now with all the yells my kids do when they are happy but it seems loud noises will always surprise me” She confessed while chuckling. “I’m sure it could” Her brown orbs staring at said book. “Though I don’t think the librarian would be too pleased if you did that...nor those students who are looking at you as if you committed a serious crime by dropping it.”
“I’ll be ruined, surely I’ll get kicked out of the medical profession forever…” Adrianna groaned softly and shook her head…before her gaze lifted back to the other’s with a teasing smirk. “I try to keep the max amount at 3, but if you’ve ever tasted the cafeteria coffee then you know its quantity over quality where it’s concerned.” The brunette joked playfully, a laugh falling from her lips. “It’s just annoying when they’re about to tell us who the bad guy is…and then nada.”
Mina laughed at Adrianna’s words, “If you are so worried about it, I will keep it a secret.” She played along. “But my silence has a prince...” The bright smile decorated her lips as she spoke fell as her eyebrows raised at the other’s words. “So all those jokes about the hospitals’ cafeteria food are right?” Mina asked while leaning closer to her, as if the answer to her question was a secret before laughing and nodding. “I know! I hate when they leave them on cliffhanger and then you have to wait at least a year, if you are lucky, to know what happens next...that’s just mean.”
a long shift now finally coming to an end . and poor girl believed in good surprises to balance out the nightmarish ones she’d just endured at the hospital . when she’d told the bartender to surprise her , selene really didn’t expect it to be so far from what appealed her taste buds . nose still scrunched , the docile maiden doesn’t complain , only continues sipping sadly . taking notice of the other next to her , “ do you have an actual good recommendation ? please ? ” tone is hushed , keeping those doe eyes on the bartender assisting another so their feelings were spared . @odetteport
Mina wasn’t someone who went to bars frequently yet that night she found herself in one, long forgotten by the friend who wanted to have drinks with her and was now who knows where. She let out a sigh before taking a sip of her drink until the woman next to her spoke. “Actually I’m not that good with recomendations.” She said as she warily eyed the other’s drink. “But I think i can recommend you something that doesn’t looks like it was pulled out from that Avatar movie. Do you prefer sweeter drinks?”
Aurora was working a closing shift at the local bakery, West Side bakery. Surprisingly, it hadn’t been too busy and it had given her enough time to do some reading - her absolute favorite past time. Sitting behind the main counter, her nose was buried in the text, completely in her own nerdy world. The young girl was so focused on the task at hand hat she almost didn’t hear the bell ring, indicating that a new customer had came in. Quickly fumbling to throw her book back into her bag, she flashed a smile at her the other individual.
“Hello! So sorry about that, what can I get for you today? We just reveled our winter seasonal items on our menu by the way,” she spoke.
“It’s okay” Mina nodded at the information and tilted her head lightly to the left to read said items from the menu yet she was as lost as she entered the bakery. Clearing her throat before speaking, thinking it was better to ask for help. “What would you recommend for kids? A small treat that won’t spoil their supper”
A laugh escaped Adri as she shrugged. “I unfortunately drink unhealthy amounts of coffee during a night shift…and since I’m a nurse and told you that I might have to swear you to secrecy. A ‘do as I say not as I do’ moment, eh?” She smiled, nodding along. “Yeah, those bills are encouraging enough I suppose. Plus, I don’t want to have it cut out during a good tv episode, do I?’ Adri joked back.
“Well I’m sorry to tell you this Adri but it’s too late for that.” Mina smiled while moving the now half empty cup of coffee to prove her point. “Now I’m curious...How many cups do you usually drink on a night shift?” She chuckled at her words. “Oh certainly that would be the worst.”
A loud thud echoed around the quiet library as Julian stumbled on an uneven floorboard, causing the book in his hand to fall to the floor. “Ah- this is embarrassing.” The doctor mused with a sheepish smile, looking at the person closest to him. “Sorry about the noise.”
Mina jumped on surprise at the loud sound, clearly not expecting it, before turning to him, eyes wide as she spoke. “My little stunt or the book dropping?” She chuckled before shaking her head. “It’s okay...though it’s the book okay? It seems like it’s one of the old ones of the library.”
Sipping from her third cup of coffee, Adri let out a soft chuckle. “I swear the only three things that keep me going during a night shift at the hospital, are caffeine, sugar and the sheer fact that I need to pay my electricity bill.”
Mina chuckled at her words, her hands surrounding her cup of coffee as she let it warm her hands “I’m impressed...if I’m honest, I don’t think that even coffee or sugar would keep me up all night” A small smile on her lips as she took a sip of her coffee before adding “But paying the bill would do the trick, I’m sure” She joked.
I just saw MINA MIN down the street, I wonder if people still tell them they look a bit like SEO JIHYE. They’ve been living here in Odette for TEN YEARS I’m sure that’s why you recognize them, it is a small town after all. I over heard someone saying that they are THIRTY THREE YEAR OLD and celebrate their birthday on JULY 15TH, I guess that makes them a/an CANCER. I’m pretty sure they work over at TINY TOTS PRE-SCHOOL as a/an TEACHER, which could explain why they live in BRIDGELANE. Some of their friends have described them as being PATIENT, POLITE, & WARM, but rumour has it they’re also RESENTFUL, HARSH, & CALCULATING. Don’t tell anyone but, apparently [REDACTED]. . It’s a small town, so they better keep that one close to their chest. — (( Annie, 24, cst, she/her))
