Charlie Kirk has been fatally shot at Utah Valley University.
This is the immediate response from elected officials:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis: “The way to resolve political disputes is not through violence. The way to do that is to ask questions, debate. An attack on the idea that we resolve these things through reasoned debate and elections.”
Republican Senate Leader John Thune of South Dakota: "There is no place in our country for political violence. Period, full stop."
Republican Senator Mike Lee of Utah: “I am tracking the situation at Utah Valley University closely. Please join me in praying for Charlie Kirk and the students gathered there.”
President Donald J. Trump: “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!”
You know what these people did not do? Speak up in the aftermath of school shootings. They did not Speak up when Minnesota democratic senator Mellissa hortman was assassinated. They did not speak up when Pennsylvania’s governor Josh Shapiro’s home was set ablaze in an arson attempt.
These people do not care, it’s all image. If they cared then gun control would have been passed easily back when sandy hook took place.
No one deserves to die, and I don’t like Charlie although he should not have been shot. But in his own words “Having an armed citizenry comes with a price, and that is part of liberty.”
It’s part of liberty when it’s democrats, it’s part of liberty when it’s against minorities, it’s part of liberty when it’s children.
But now there’s no place for it. Now it’s something the entire nation needs to pray for. Now it’s every congress persons top agenda item.
THEN PASS GUN LAWS! If this happened to Kirk then imagine who else it’s happening too?! If this truly is so abhorrent and should never have a place in america, Then regulate guns, not just for the Kirk’s or trumps or Shapiros but for everyone’s safety! This should be bipartisan!
