teacher: wow, that outline really helped!

me: yes. yes it did

Hey, that’s called a reverse outline and it is really helpful!

Basically, it helps you establish whether or not you’ve answered the prompt over the course of the paper and whether the ordering of subjects does well to strengthen your argument. If the ordering doesn’t, you can just move the subjects around (in the outline) until you find an ordering that makes the most sense and then move your paragraphs to match. After that, you just need to mind your transitions and boom! You have a much stronger paper. :D

It also helps you see where you’re repeating yourself and what you can afford to cut while still maintaining the integrity of the piece.

Reverse outlines are the bomb; they were my favorite tool as a writing tutor.

infinity war rewrite. opening scene. instead of monologuing about nonsense for five minutes (boring) and killing heimdall (unnecessary) thanos just grabs loki by the ankles and shakes him upside down until the tesseract falls out his pocket, but then thanos keeps shaking him and more and more entirely identical tesseracts just keep falling out of loki’s pockets and making a pile on the ground and this goes on until the point where it becomes comical

Loki survives by being disguised as one of the tesseract and Thanos has just been shaking his duplicate
