The trolley's springs reminded him of the bed they had back home. The one his mother used. The one that made those slow yet constant creaking sounds whenever Dave asked him to sleep extra early so he can grow up extra taller and stronger. He kept pressing down or some reason, triggering the springs to continue the odd rhythm. His mom never sang him any lullabies to lull him to sleep except when Dave was around and then it was an odd symphony of oddly placed muffled moans against the varying speed and strength of springs creaking.

Living in an Ivory Tower
I live in an ivory tower. Torrential rain hits the air-conditioning unit outside, the tiny repetitive splatters becoming a rhythm of some sorts. Braving the flood below would have meant submerging one's self until his torso region. No delivery man would dare brave these waters. I am hungry. I bought a few snacks and bottled drinks at the convenience store below. The store looked liked it was just recently ransacked, all the necessary basic needs sold out by others who have willingly hid themselves away inside their own quarters in this ivory tower. A grandmother asks a customer, his hands full of instant cup noodles, "Where did you get those?". His answer merciless, "These are the last ones." She looks longingly towards the supplies, a look the young man ignores. I need to eat too. I live in an ivory tower, I don't know what's happening outside.
I'm a mess. I just can't get it together.
To be honest, looking back I rarely felt appreciated by you people.
I just need a place to stay.
Maybe someone took them away, or maybe I just wasn't paying attention enough. Either way, I don't think they're still there.
