My new love, chia seed pudding. Made with chia, coconut cream, water, coconut nectar and mango. So uncomplicated.1 part chia to three parts liquid, slosh into a jar and leave in the fridge overnight. A drizzle of nectar and chopped mango on top before serving; it couldn't be easier- dive in.

Back from AfrikaBurn and utterly inspired by the epic/eerie/exquisite costumes that were lighting up the landscape. At this week's Intuitive Art session, we decided to stop obsessively tweaking our usual costumes of identity and try some completely different ones on for size.

Using scraps of fabric/ ribbon/ paper/ magazines/ findings from nature we worked onto paper figure templates to create our costumes.

The making of them was an opportunity to explore unrealised aspects of ourselves, reclaim forgotten parts, and find that the foreign and the familiar can be equally fitting.

Last year, too, I came home with a paltry collection of four photos. Low tech living suits me well- so happy to be free of my phone for a week; no reception within 100km, no need for time keeping, and with extraordinary things to see everywhere your eyes land, I'd rather be right in them than on the other side of a lens.

Excerpts from The Journey Is the Destination, the journals of Dan Eldon- a fully fledged war photographer, adventurer and humanitarian who died at the hands of a violent mob in Somalia at the age of only 22.

This work is of an entirely different kind to the saccharine scrapbooking that saves only the sweetest of memories as keepsakes. Oft- repeated photographic images are altered with line drawing, fire, print and scissors and are layered with paper ephemera, giving a behind the scenes commentary on the face the photos present to the world.

Having ideas about out next Intuitive Art project- a semi autobiographical multi-media collage using photos from the bygone days of our lives.

This is the beginnings of a detox broth, a clear soup made with veggies, herbs and spices and slow cooked for 3-4 hours before straining.

This one was made with butternut, carrots, potatoes, celery, onions, garlic and a big handful of garden herbs. I also added chilli, ginger, cinnamon bark, turmeric root, whole coriander and cardamom pods, to provide welcome warming properties to counteract the cooling raw fruit and veggie juices.

Surprisingly dense in flavour for something with so little substance it’s a beautifully comforting end to a detox day. Served warm with a single spoon of cold- pressed organic omega oils, it also offers a savory richness not found in the endless round of daytime juices.

I find the oils give my brain what it needs to stay happy- on longer, juice only or water fasts I can get very grouchy indeed.
