minhwantae:
The park was one of Tae’s favorite places to come sketch. There was always something exciting going on that he could capture, or the landscape would provide enough inspiration on his good days. His sketch pad in front of him, his mind elsewhere, Tae was startled nearly half to death when a loud noise erupted from his left. His pencil went askew as he turned around, looking for the source of the noise.
Mira decided to take Dexter out to the park, giving the boy a chance to run off all his energy. Along with them was the boys’ dog, Pluto. The blonde had a camera around it neck, wasn’t often that she went off without it. Her son and the young dog were running around with a Frisby. They both ran past a man, Dexter erupting in laughter as Pluto chased him around and barking wildly. Mira noticed that they had startled Tae. “Sorry about that,” the mom pleaded. Walking over to the man that was sketching. “They can both get a little carried away.”
jackleighton:
Jack hadn’t even managed to close the door behind him before he could hear Mira speaking to him. His brain hadn’t even originally registered that she was speaking to him until after her second statement. By then his nose had finally caught a whiff of the cooking storm she’d been creating. Her ton and the cooking alone let him know all thoughts of decompressing were out the window. However, on the bright side his stomach would be happy.
Jack set his bag down by the couch and made his way into the kitchen where he slowly sat on a stool in front of the counter. His brows knitted together as he listened to her speak. What she was describing was unfathomable to him. Yet he knew Mira wouldn’t lie about something like this nor would she work herself up over nothing. Jack was torn on how to react. So torn that was he was left speechless. Even more so when Mira requested he go upstairs to comfort the boy. Since he doubted being angry when he entered the room would help the situation.
With the overload of information it took his brain to come up with a way to respond. Just as slowly as he sat down, Jack stood up and made his way over to Mira. He put a calming hand on Mira’s arm and looked her in the eye. With a sense of serenity he didn’t feel himself he said, “Hey, he’s okay. You’re okay. It’s gonna be okay. I’ll talk to him. But do you need me first?” Jack wasn’t sure if it was wise to talk to Dex knowing that when he eventually came downstairs it would be a worked up Mira.
She shook her head, brushing his hand off easily. “I’m fine. Dexter is more important, go to him.” Mira turned her face away from Jack, focusing on the cooking in front of her. Seasoning the pasta sauce, giving it a small taste before adding more. It was supposed to be spaghetti night but instead, it was stuffed shells. With a homemade caesar salad and a chocolate cake for Dexter. “I’ve been distracted enough, I need to focus on the food.”
