It’s time for the prompt list for the Yu-Gi-Oh 30th Anniversary Fan Fest!
While all prompts are available now, a reminder post will be made the first of every month at around midnight EST/EDT (UTC: -5:00/-4:00). An image (similar to the ones posted so far) will be posted that will briefly go into what the prompt is about. You are free to interpret it however you want. I tried to come up with different prompts so everyone, no matter the content they make, can respond to at least one.
With that said, here are the prompts!
🌟 January: What got you interested?
🌟 February: Favorite Character
🌟 March: Favorite Monster
🌟 April: Favorite Arc/Story
🌟 May: Favorite Spell Card
🌟 June: Favorite Main Character
🌟 July: Favorite Memory
🌟 August:Favorite Trap Card
🌟 September: Why You Love Yu-Gi-Oh
🌟 October: Favorite Villan
🌟 November: Favorite Archetype
🌟 December: Favorite Series
Please follow the rules of the site you post on as well as for the Fan Fest. Use the tag #YGO30thFanFest to share with others. And remember, have fun!
Apparently, my decision to be silly and make fanart of someone's writing (because I genuinely enjoy the story the person is writing and I was struck with inspiration upon reading a particular scene) has benevolent and wildly unforeseen consequences.
I apparently gained a bit of control of the canon because said writer really loved the art and decided what I drew/draw is canon.
2. Writer put said artwork into the document of his story right below the scene, so now it's IN the story where people who read the story will see it (with a link to me)
3. He sent the artwork to all his friends and people he knows because he was so excited
Wholesome interaction and I watched him do all that in real time, good stuff. However...there are two more consequences I was notified of today...nearly a full week after I gave the artwork.
Seeing the artwork caused his friends to become interested in reading and hearing about his story, which means more people are reading what he's writing and giving him critique on the story (which he actively asks for).
Apparently, upon seeing the art, his writer friends got a sudden second wind to pick back up writing they'd abandoned for a few months. Because, I quote, "seeing that someone enjoyed {his} writing enough to take the time to make art of it gave them the motivation that maybe THEY can write something that will inspire someone to also create something." I have accidentally caused a writing frenzy among his writer friends and my silly idea to make art for someone has had a butterfly effect for people who I don't even know.
Uhh...I'm pretty sure there's a moral here but I am tired and have a great deal of emotions about this.
Bakubang 2026 — Multimedia Prompt & Fill Speedrun Event!
Hey, you ever get a craving to make a bunch of things in a really really small amount of time? Wanna make drawings or fics or poems or collages or edits or fanmixes or meta or what-have-you that have to do with Bakura Ryou? Perhaps you have prompt ideas related to Bakura Ryou that you want to share with the whole Bakura Ryou loving tumblr world?
Bakubang might be just what you’re looking for!
Note that this is not an exchange. This is more akin to old school anon prompt memes in that anonymous prompts will be up for anyone to choose from and can be completed (“filled”) multiple times by any participant.
Bakubang’s main idea, then, is to gather as many prompts to do with Bakura Ryou in a week as we can and work the following week to create for and fill as many of these prompts as possible!
Making multiple quick things is encouraged! Making as big and epic a single thing as you can is also encouraged! Yes, even making a single quick thing or only submitting prompts is welcome!
The goal, put simply, is to get people creating anything about Bakura Ryou! So any and all levels of commitment are welcome.
Do note the “multimedia” aspect of this; the sky is theoretically limitless for what you can do with a prompt. Please bring up any “is this non-drawing/non-writing/etc type of medium okay?” questions to this blog’s replies, ask box, or DMs if you’re unsure regarding a medium you want to create in. Most likely? The answer will be “hell yeah, do it!”*
*The exception is anything that’s made with generative AI; please do not use AI in this event, thank you for understanding!
Current Planned Schedule (with the AM/PM typo corrected, yay “extra” 12 hours!):
Prompting Period: May 17, 2026 12:00AM - May 23, 2026 11:59PM PDT
Creation Period: May 24, 2026 12:00AM - May 30, 2026 11:59PM PDT
Posting: During the Creation Period or Toward the End/Immediately After if Desired
Further details for those interested, such as how to submit prompts, will be below the read more to avoid having an overly long post floating around.
How to Submit Prompts:
Prompting itself will be anonymous and most likely collected via Google Forms once the Prompting Period starts, then pasted into a master Google Doc (or two if needed, one sfw and one for any that aren’t) and/or Ellipsus document(s) and/or tumblr post(s) with potential read mores depending on length.
If I can figure out how to manage it, maybe I’ll load the prompts anonymously into an Ao3 Prompt Challenge Collection and open that up for submissions as well.
Prompting via anonymous asks to this blog will also be accepted and added to the prompt list(s) as well.
Prompting and any associated posts/links will go live May 17, 2026 12:00AM PDT.
What Types of Prompts Can We Submit?:
The aim of this event is to be casual, so prompt length will not be heavily moderated. Short prompts are welcome (such as 1-2 word prompts), as are longer prompts (ranging from things like a sentence or two to a longer paragraph or so perhaps).
They should have something to do with Bakura Ryou or be easy to insert Bakura Ryou into/use for a Bakura Ryou creation.
While the intent of this event isn’t to outright be either fully sfw or fully non sfw, should non sfw prompts be present in submissions they will be kept on a separate shareable document so people can choose whether or not to view them.
Additionally, if you want to include any Do Not Wants (DNWs) with your anonymous prompt, they are welcome as well, but this is not required. A prompt without any will be assumed to have no relevant DNWs!
Keep in mind we will have a week total to work on these, too!
How Many Prompts Can We Submit?:
For now, there’s no strict number per person given the anonymous nature of the prompting portion of the event. The Google Form will likely allow 1-10 prompts per submission because I think that’s a decent amount per submission (maximum chaos!).
If submitting the form more than once per person becomes desirable, I’ll make an announcement on the blog related to that.
What if Someone’s Already Submitted What I Was Thinking?:
To prevent doubled identical prompts, the prompt list, wherever it ends up being hosted, will be publicly live-updated throughout the Prompting Period.
Prompts that are similar but worded differently will all be pasted as they are onto the prompt list(s).
What if There’s Too Many Prompts?:
Maybe then I’ll look into a “spin the wheel” type generator that lets people randomize a prompt to work on!
How to Complete & Post Work:
You’ll peruse and choose prompts from wherever they’re posted and complete it as fully as you desire. You’ll then post your creation(s) to your desired platform (tumblr and Ao3 will be the ones primarily focused on for sharing by Mod Pal, though); this is to allow for easier multimedia participation, as some types of creations may be hard to transfer or upload reliably to Ao3.
If you are posting to tumblr, tag the @/bakubangspeedrun blog and I’ll pop in each day to reblog things the blog is tagged in!
If you are posting to Ao3, there will be some sort of collection for you to add your work to, whether it be a general one or prompt challenge one!
There is no set posting date, so you are welcome to post as you finish your creations or to wait for the last day or day after to post.
Participation Requirements?:
None! As stated before, you are welcome to submit one work or many, and even to prompt and not create anything or create things without prompting anything. The purpose of this event is just to have a quick, casual creation event up and running that revolves around Bakura Ryou!
Additionally, there is no sign up form or sign up period, so people can more easily hop in and out of participating as they desire or need to.
Further Details:
Some sort of time zone converter and/or countdown timer to the ends of the Prompting Period and Creation Period will be posted hopefully tomorrow or the day after. Any further information will come as announcement posts on this blog before and, if necessary, during the event.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to get in contact via this blog’s replies, ask box, or DMs!
Thank you for reading, and I hope to see some of you participating soon!!
