thinking of mom tess who would catch you crying in your bedroom. she would approach with worry written all over her face as you lay in bed sobbing.
she would sit down beside you and would place her hand on your bare arm, slowly rubbing her hand up and down against the warm skin as she listens to your quiet cries.
her hand would stop as you nudge her away, signalling you want to be left alone. but tess being the best mom she is, and knowing you so well, she would still stay because she knows deep down you need her.
she quietly sits there for however long she needs to. her presence just being there brings you that safety, that comforting feeling even if you want to be left alone.
a long moment passed before you feel her hand on the top of your head as she brushes your hair back, and places a kiss on the top of your head.
you then feel her lay down close against you. your back pressed against her front as she pulls you closer for a hug. her left arm holding you close and her right hand still on the top of your head as she gently strokes the front to make you fall asleep like she always did.
once she knows youāre definitely asleep, she will sleep too. staying the entire night until you wake up the next morning.
