SUMMER 2013, wassup?!
Whether it is creating a documentary, audio piece, news package, script or short film, being a communications major has allowed me to have an idea of what it takes to make these different kinds of creativity come to life. The video above is "Paperman," a full animated short film by Disney Animation Studios. I can only imagine the amount of time it took to create this short six minute piece. The drawings, lighting, second-by-second movement of computer and traditional animation, background audio of the city, train, wind and paper along with the music.
I just finished showing it to my class and to my amazement, many did not know about it. It felt good to see people in my class have the same appreciation for this short film as I did.
"Something happy to watch" is the best way for me to describe it without giving anything away. Did I mention that this animated short film won an Academy Award? I can see why, hope you can too!
Enjoy. :)
One of my life goals is to learn how to create paper cranes, I will accomplish this.
April is almost at its mid-way point and that means its crunch time for Finals. Best of luck to everyone and remember: "You can do it!" :)

Venezia, Italia <3
To visit Italy would be a dream come true, I can't wait for the day where my family says "we out!" First thing to pack: My camera.
DUNK it .. DUNK it good.
Its only the third month of the new year and already we've had seen some of the biggest NBA plays in history. I don't know about you but a personal favorite play of mine is when a key player of the team decides to take that infamous dunk. Although it is not something the player may think of during the game, I bet on spare time, a player is always hoping to make their mark. Dunks during an NBA game are always a crowd pleaser. It is the start of a high energy, pumped up release.
Yesterday's game (3/18) between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat was clearly a "sitting-on-the-edge" game. The classic rivalry between both teams allowed fans of both sides to scream at the top of their lungs, cheer on, bash and plead for mercy. We can only wonder what's next for Boston Celtics after a playoff-like game against the team who now has the second-longest winning streak in NBA history. Will Kevin Garnett come back in time for Playoffs? Will Miami Heat beat the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers record of winning 33 games straight?
BIG things coming your way ladies and gentlemen, we shall see.
Until then, here are some photos of dunks I had priceless reactions to. Some of the posters of 2013 (so far) are:
January 16, 2013. Portland Trailblazers' J.J Hickson gives Cleveland Cavaliers' Alonzo Gee a taste of what it feels like to get dunked on. Gee's face expression says it all.

February 5, 2013. Who said Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant is old? In my best Kevin Hart voice: "You gon' learn today!" who the Black Mamba is!

March 6, 2013.. Jamal Crawford and Blake Griffin from LA Clippers showing off their skills in this alley-oop shot. Talk about teamwork!

March 10, 2013. DeAndre Jordan (LA Clippers) dunking on Brandon Knight from Detroit Pistons, need I say more? The kids' reaction were priceless. Chris Paul staring at Knight after the dunk was even more priceless. Jordan's move was one for the books indeed.

March 18, 2013. Last but not least, Sir King James making that dunk on Boston Celtics' very own Jason Terry. Showing TD Arena that Miami is in the building.

And there it is, some good ol' dunks made in the last three months of the new year! Can't wait to see what the rest of the NBA season has to offer for us fans!
Have you ever heard of James "Jimmy" Valvano? Mainly known for his career as the head basketball coach for North Carolina State University, Valvano, led the team to win the 1983 NCAA Basketball Tournament. It was a victory that was considered one of the greatest upsets in college basketball history.
On March 4, 2013, ESPN tweeted a YouTube video of Valvano's speech at the 1993 ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award). It took a simple tweet from ESPN to introduce me to this piece of history. I will admit, it was inspiring, to see this man who was struggling with a life-threatening disease smile at everyone and speak about the importance of living. If you never knew about Valvano, I can guarantee you will have a warmth feeling after hearing what he had to say at the ESPY Awards.
If you are wondering was there ever a documentary based on this man and the NC team, ESPN Films' 30 for 30 featured "Survive and Advance" this past Sunday. I highly recommend it as a must-watch for anyone interested in some March Madness history. You will get an understanding of the 1983 NCAA Basketball Championship, the players' viewpoints in everything they've gone through and Coach Valvano's determination in this great team. The documentary is an overall celebration of Valvano, the NC team and their journey to victory. It is a true reminder of what Jimmy V always advised: "Don't give up .. don't ever give up."
Nature's beauty around the world, can't wait to embrace it. :)
Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes, I appreciate it!
Laughter is the best medicine.
Everyday life.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present you Dwight Schrute.
Time to go home, lay back, relax and watch "The Office."
When you're in high school, you're told about college as the place of freedom, the place to find yourself, the place to make those big decisions. Everything that I have chosen to do has led me to the life I have today. Sometimes, it is okay to take big risks despite what it may lead to in the end. Some of those decisions could lead to experiences that you will always treasure, remember and keep in your heart.
When I look back into my life, I want to say that whatever decision I made, was for the best and that I enjoyed the ride.
