Maison Beer evening gown illustrated in Les Modes, Dec 1923. This gives a good idea of styling an evening look in the first half of the decade - it was acceptable not to wear anything in your hair (you don’t have to have a bandeau, evening cloche etc), and accessories like fans were often in quite strong colour contrasts.

You’ve found in one another a bond, that exists only in combat, among brothers. You’ve shared foxholes, held each other in dire moments. You’ve seen death and suffered together. I’m proud to have served with each and every one of you. You all deserve long and happy lives in peace.
