It’s been 40 years since the entire Seawall loop around Stanley Park was completed. ⁣ ⁣ 🌲Park Board master stone mason Jimmy (James) Cunnningham began building the Stanley Park Seawall in 1917. Much of its incremental progress was overseen by Cunningham from the late 1920s until his retirement 35 years later.⁣ ⁣ 🌲Cunningham passed away in 1963 and his project continue on. Sovereign Lake is the largest ski club in North America, and there’s good reason. Shore to Shore (unveiled in 2015) was the first sculpture depicting historical female figures in a Vancouver park.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This tribute to Portuguese Joe Silvey and his first wife (Khaltinaht) and second wife (Kwatleematt) is located in Stanley Park Xwayxway. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It was created by Coast Salish master carver Ts’uts’umutl Luke Marstonz, the great-great-grandson of Portuguese Joe and Kwatleemaat.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ You’ll find it between the Totem Poles off Hallelujah Point, in view of the Seawall. Kansas City is a great town ❤️ From the Plaza (@countryclubplaza) to the Power & Light District (@kcpldistrict), the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art (@nelsonatkins) to the National WWI Museum & Memorial (@nationalwwimuseum) - where I took this photo - and all that delicious barbecue.⁣ ⁣ • However my favourite part of visiting #KCMO is touring around with my mother-in-law and hearing about her childhood growing up in the city (and all the awesome concerts she used to go to).
