my scent experience:

the fragrance opens very cold and aromatic from the juniper berries and I’ve learnt that I like juniper berries so it was a good start. as it settles, the scent becomes warm, slighty sweet and minty which is something I didn’t expect but I like the minty element. once it dries down, the fragrance is still warm but it’s now soft and musky from the white musk. I don’t get any ambroxan from this fragrance which is nice as I’m not the biggest fan of ambroxan. overall, this fragrance smells like mint tictacs.

this fragrance has soft to moderate projection which for this perfume works well. this lasted about 7 hours on my skin which is good for a fragrance like this. I like this perfume and I actually bought a full size bottle of this in Paris. I like that it’s not too sweet but it’s not too musky either that it can smell a little weird. that being said, I wouldn’t say it’s blind buy safe so please test this out on your skin before purchasing.

I bought this fragrance after smelling most of them at the Courrèges store in Paris. I really like the opening scent and usually I don’t purchase bottles based on that alone but I bought it anyway and I really like this fragrance. I like the balance of the sweet and aromatic elements which I think is perfect for every day wear. I also like how simple yet chic the bottle is with the sphere cap. also, Wooyoung received the 100ml bottle of this fragrance when he attended Courrèges’ FW25 show along with the candle and miniatures set (I think the mini bottles are so cute).

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes sweet musky fragrances.

those who want a comforting scent perfect for every day use.

lily, georgywood, moraea ciliata, osmanthus flower, ylang ylang, magnolia flower

my scent experience:

the opening is very sweet, almost smelling like red candy which took me by surprise considering the number of florals listed in the notes. as it settles, the fragrance becomes light and floral from the lily and magnolia. the scent in the dry down is a combination of light florals and the sweet candy element but there's also a little ambery warmth to it. I believe the sweetness comes from osmanthus as this flower has an apricot scent to it as well as owning a few fragrances with this note, and they all smell fruity and sweet on my skin. to me, this smells like a confident woman who is wearing a white floral perfume and likes to indulge in red candy.

the projection is moderate, which I like as some sweet perfumes can be too intense when the projection is strong. this perfume lasted about 9 hours on me and that's what you should expect from an eau de parfum. this fragrance made my jaw drop at how good it smells, and I know sweet perfumes aren't for everyone, but I really like this. when I smell this, I picture someone who is confident, passionate, and knows exactly what they want. it's bold, it's daring, and very sexy.

additional notes from me:

this perfume was inspired by Pierre's and Olivier's deep connection to the allure of stardom and success. it also radiates addictive love which is most likely why Balmain was promoting this fragrance all over social media during Valentine's Day. I was originally going to review this and upload it around that time but as you can see, that didn't happen. I reviewed this one last because I had a feeling that I was going to like this fragrance based on the notes and I wanted to leave the best for last and I was correct. I really like this perfume, and I can't help but think if this fragrance was a person, I would do anything for them. I absolutely need a bottle of this. between this one and Vent Vert, I don't know which one I prefer.

anyone who likes sweet floral fragrances.

those who wants a scent that makes them feel confident and daring.

vert de mandarine, jasmin, blackcurrant, galbanum essence, calypsone, soft musks, basil, spearmint, fig leaf

my scent experience:

the fragrance opening is very fresh, green, and heavy on the fig leaves with a slight sweetness from the blackcurrant. one of my favorite notes in perfume is blackcurrant, so smelling that made me happy. as it settles, it's now this lovely white floral scent from the jasmine. once the scent dries down, it becomes earthy, leafy and there's also a citrus element from the mandarin. I'm not too sure what calypsone is but they described it as sea breeze which I couldn't detect unfortunately. it smells like picking blackcurrants in a white floral garden with the blackcurrants next to a fig tree, if that makes any sense. it's a wonderful green fruity scent that's perfect for spring and summer.

the projection is moderate and for scent on the lighter side, I think it's perfectly fine. the longevity is long as it lasted about 9 hours and it's by far one of the longer lasting earthy fragrances I've tried. I've been into green fragrances for a moment and while this is on the fresher side of green perfumes, I really like this and it's one of my favorites from the collection. this was very refreshing for me especially after testing out Sel d'Ambre which almost knocked me out from its intensity.

additional notes from me:

this is one of the four reinvented classics in the collection, and it was originally released in 1947 as one of the first green fragrances in the market. I haven't smelt the original, but I could imagine it would be a lot greener than the new version and maybe one day, I would like to test it out. I never mentioned this in the earlier reviews but the packaging was inspired by their first ever fragrance that was released in 1946 and I love the bottle it's just so beautiful and can we talk about that color? absolutely divine. I would actually purchase a bottle of this the next time I'm in Paris but when will I visit Paris again? maybe in the distant future.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes green floral fragrances with a slight sweetness.

those who want something light but sophisticated for the summer.

anyone who wants to try out Balmain fragrances.

my scent experience:

the opening is very watery and slightly aromatic, almost smelling like aloe vera gel which I didn't expect from this fragrance. as it settles, it becomes very orange zesty, but it still has that watery element to it. once the fragrance dries down, it's now this light woody scent from the guaiac wood and there's a hint of sweetness from the amber. I wish I could smell the green tea extract, but I didn't which is a shame because I love a good tea element in a fragrance. if I'm being honest, this doesn't smell like rain. if anything, it smells like an orange peel submerged in cold water.

the projection is on the softer side, and it becomes very subtle as it wears. this lasted around 3 hours on me which is shorter than I anticipated. for a fragrance that's marketed towards men, this does smell nice, and I do like it but for the longevity alone, I wouldn't wear it. this is a good corporate friendly fragrance so to all my office workers reading, this is an option.

additional notes from me:

Wooyoung having this in his collection doesn't surprise me at this point because after reviewing ten fragrances that he owns, I know what kind of scents he's into. in case you don't know, he likes lighter musky and aromatic fragrances which isn't something I gravitate towards to, but I do have fun testing them out. he wore this when he was in Guam and this scent is a reminder of his time there with his family. scents can create memories and links to a person, place or anything really so wearing different fragrances when travelling is another way to remember that particular place without using social media. I can't say that everyone experiences this, but fragrances have the power to do that, and I think that's beautiful and romantic almost. however, scents can be tied to bad memories as well and hopefully that isn't the case for the majority.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes the watery and citrusy scents.

those who want a nice light fragrance to wear during the cool summer days.

anyone who wants to try out Bvlgari fragrances.

cedarwood, patchouli, black pepper, tobacco leaf, jasmin, hay absolute

my scent experience:

the opening for this fragrance is literally smokey chocolate and as someone who doesn't like chocolate, adding a smokey scent to it did not help. as it settles, it becomes spicy and herbaceous from the patchouli and hay absolute, but I still smell that smokey chocolate. once the scent dries down, the cedarwood comes through but it’s being dominated by the spicy chocolate scent. to me this is a smokier version of Kayali's Invite Only Amber 23 which isn't my favorite fragrance from that house. if you couldn't tell already, this smelt like you had some spicy chocolate and was smoking at the same time.

the projection is strong. I could immediately smell it when I first sprayed it, and the scent just hits you in the face which isn't suitable for those who prefer something on the softer side. the longevity is pretty long as well, lasting about 9 hours on me. I wish I got the dark woody scents, but I didn't unfortunately. I think I'll need to test this once again, just to see if I missed anything but so far, this isn't my favorite.

additional notes from me:

this fragrance is actually personal to Olivier Rousteing (the creative director of Balmain) as the story behind this was his healing journey after a fire-related accident, and honestly, it made me feel bad for not loving this perfume. I respect this fragrance, and I think it’s a good one for woody perfume lovers but for me personally, I find this too intense to wear. I like intense perfumes but even I have limits to what I think is too much for me to handle. maybe I would like this more if I was older and I gravitated towards intense woody scents but right now this isn't the fragrance for me. I wonder who Hongjoong gave his bottle to.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes the scent of smokey and spicy chocolate.

those who want something daring and bold.

my scent experience:

this fragrance opens with a white floral scent from the orange blossom, and it has a bright citrus element to it. it almost smells like oranges, but I could be wrong. as it settles it becomes clean and aromatic from the juniper berries which I think is nice. once the fragrance dries down, it transforms into this spicy aromatic scent, definitely from the patchouli. I'm not familiar with angelica root but they say it smells earthy and unfortunately, I don't get that earthiness in the dry down. the best way to describe this fragrance is white florals in a hotel lobby.

the projection is minimal, you can smell it but it's not strong on my skin. as this is an edt, this lasted about 3 hours on my skin which isn't the best if you want something that lasts all day but it's a good scent if you're running errands and want to throw something on. this is a cleaner scent and while it didn't give me a headache, it's not that interesting of a fragrance to me. it's nice and all but if I had a bottle of this, I wouldn't reach for it.

additional notes from me:

I'm not too sure if it's this fragrance or another Diptyque fragrance that Yeosang has been using lately as he did mention he has one in that voiceover live he did a while ago. I did look around to see if I missed anything and I noticed he had a bottle of this when he did his room tour, I just know a Diptyque bottle when I see it. him owning this fragrance makes sense as it is a floral with some fresh and spicy elements to it which he does have a few of those in his collection. when looking at each of their perfume collections, you'd notice their preferences and/or if they like to switch it up for a bit and Yeosang is someone who I think likes a good variety of scents.

my scent experience:

the opening for this fragrance is a very clean and powdery rose scent. it reminded me of how Byredo's Blanche opens except there was no aldehydic punch to it and I love that so thank you Balmain. as it settles, it becomes warm and musky from the suede which I don't mind smelling after the powdery floral opening. once the scent dries down, it's spicy, earthy yet musky at the same time and I was confused about this for a moment. I wasn't sure what I was smelling because it smells clean and soft yet earthy with a hint of spice, and weirdly enough, I like it. the best way to describe this scent overall would be washing your shirt with rose scented detergent, wearing the shirt around, and getting dirt all over it later on — all on the same day. it's very hard to describe this scent if I'm being honest.

the projection is strong when you first spray it, but it mellows out throughout the day. the longevity is pretty long as it lasted for about 12 hours on me, and I could still smell it on me the next day after spraying it on. I was perplexed about this scent as it's not a fragrance I would usually wear, and it got me second guessing myself about my feelings towards musky scents. while I was confused about the dry down, I will admit, I like it, and it got me intrigued. I'll need to wear this more to see if I want a full bottle.

additional notes from me:

I believe this is the perfume that Hongjoong initially wanted to keep for himself out of the collection but realized it wasn't for him and decided to give this to Yeosang. that being said, I don't know if he gave it to Yeosang and for all we know, it's with another member. I'm not the biggest fan of this kind of scent but if I had to own one clean and musky fragrance, it would probably be this. I do like roses, and I can get behind the earthy scent in the dry down so I might consider purchasing the full bottle. this was actually one of the fragrances I thought I was going to hate but I actually like this even if I was a little confused about the dry down.

anyone who likes musky rose fragrances.

my scent experience:

this fragrance starts off light, clean, and floral from the iris. the clean scent is not intense but it has a little sharpness to it which made me think there’s some aldehydes in this, but Diptyque never listed it as a key note. as it settles, it’s still remains light and clean, almost smelling like gentle soap. once it dries down, the scent is still clean, but there’s a warmth to it? I’m guessing it’s from the ambrette seeds but there’s something odd about this combination on me and I can’t really pinpoint what part of the scent is throwing me off. I believe it's the warmth lingering in the back that’s got me paranoid but I’m not really into this unfortunately. to me this smells like fresh floral soap and weirdly enough, I immediately thought of popping bubbles in a bubble bath.

the longevity is so crazy, I don’t know if it was on beast mode when I wore this because this lasted over 12 hours on me? I sprayed this around 5pm and I could still smell it on myself when I woke up the next day. it’s pretty rare for fragrances to do that on me as I’m used to 6–8-hour wear but lasting for that long is crazy I had to scrub it off in the shower that morning to remove it. the projection is on the softer side but it’s still noticeable which is nice for a cleaner scent. however, I was feeling dizzy for a moment while wearing this but what’s new here? most clean perfumes do that to me.

additional notes from me:

I really like Diptyque perfumes, and they make really good ones, but this one didn’t work out for me. I’m not the biggest fan of the clean and soapy scents and the feeling’s mutual because they make my head spin in a bad way. if I could get behind the scent in the dry down, maybe I could see myself wearing this, but you know who would love this scent? my mom. she likes cleaner and softer scents so I think I might get her the body lotion for mother’s day (she prefers scented body lotions over perfumes). she says she doesn’t wear perfume, but I remember her owning multiple perfume body creams during my childhood so in some way she wears perfume just not from a bottle.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes the scent of floral soap.

those who want something light, fresh and easy to wear.

my scent experience:

it opens very citrusy with the lemon and bergamot, almost like an air freshner in your aunty’s bathroom type of citrus. once it settles, you can definitely smell the magnolia and jasmine but citrus top notes do linger — basically white florals with a little bit of zest. the dry down is still floral but it’s a little earthy most likely from the oakmoss and I don’t smell the patchouli so that’s good. the best way I could describe this scent is being in a florist and someone wipes down the counter with lysol.

the projection isn’t the best one. you can hardly smell it unless you stick your nose onto your arm or wherever you applied it. the longevity is alright, it lasted for about 3 hours on me which for a Frederic Malle perfume, doesn’t sound too good.

additional notes from me:

the first time I’ve ever smelt this perfume was actually in my hotel room in Milan — the hotel’s hair and body products had used this exact scent. now everytime I smell this perfume, it feels like I’m back in Milan I miss that place so much. I’m so tempted to by the bottle because it reminds me of the city but I haven’t just yet. I don’t remember the scent being like how I described it but maybe it’s because the concentration differs between the products and if I’m being honest, I’m glad I didn’t buy a bottle. it’s not one that I would reach out for unfortunately.

those who want something light and are willing to splurge on an expensive fragrance.

my scent experience:

very woody and clean. there is also a hint of floral in the beginning from the rose. I’m not into clean scents as they tend to give me a headache but because it’s very woody, it works well for me. this perfume leans masculine with the notes of sandalwood and cedarwood but anyone can wear this. when the perfume dries down, it becomes a little bit spicy as well but the main notes are the heart notes listed. think of this as a clean woody scent with some spice.

sandalwood is a polarising note in fragrances and majority of perfume lovers don’t really like it but when it’s done right, it’s pretty good. wearing Tam Dao made me feel older(?) than I am but I guess it’s good since people don’t believe my age when I tell them.

I actually bought this at duty-free in Rome when I had a few hours to shop around before my flight. random fact, I was actually in Rome the same time San was back in july but I didn’t see him would’ve made a fool of myself if I did. anyway, I was tossing between Philosykos and Tam Dao but eventually picked the latter. seeing that both San and Wooyoung wear this perfume, I could totally imagine them wearing this and every time I wear this perfume, I could just pretend I’m wearing their jackets (am I entering my delulu atiny era?). according to the list, Wooyoung uses this perfume but a lot of people only mention San when talking about this fragrance so I’m not too sure if Woo actually uses it but I hope he does.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes woody fragrances.

those who like clean scents but don’t want to smell like soap or fresh laundry.

anyone who wants to try out diptyque perfumes.

ATEEZ SMALL PERFUME REVIEW: LUSH — THE COMFORTER

my scent experience:

juicy, sweet and berry-like. if you don’t know what cassis is, it’s french for blackcurrant and blackcurrants in perfume are so good. I love that blackcurrants are sweet but not too sweet of a scent that it doesn’t make you feel sick. I love how juicy and delicious this smells and the bergamot makes it bright and fun. this is the body spray version of their best-selling bubble bar so if you are familiar with that product, you would like this.

the projection for this body spray is so intense, you only need two sprays to smell good. any more than that, it’s overpowering and can give you a migraine — thankfully I’ve learnt this the easy way from a Lush employee. the longevity however isn’t that great, it would last approximately 2 hours on me but considering it’s a body spray, I wasn’t expecting it to last forever.

additional notes from me:

the way seonghwa and I have the same taste in perfume? did not expect that but that means he’s got excellent taste in fragrances at least in my opinion. I bought this in store right before the pandemic so this was the scent I was wearing during lockdown lmao. it’s been quite a while since I’ve finished my bottle but I still think about it from time to time. I’ll probably buy a bottle when I visit Lush as I’ve heard stories of the body sprays leaking in transit. I just checked online and they also sell this scent as a soap bar so that’s pretty cool.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who loves the scent of blackcurrants and/or enjoys the comforter bubble bar.

those who love fruity scents.

anyone who wants to try out Lush body sprays.
