I bet Luke sensed Rey was coming and made her walk up all of those stairs anyways so he could have his grand entrance scene on the cliff because he has been the drama queen of the galaxy since the day he was born
Can we talk about how The Force Awakens is a reflection of our generation? We have these new characters who grew up with the tales of the original heroes, just like we did. The original trilogy was made for our parents but this new trilogy is for us. Rey admires Han Solo and thought of Luke Skywalker as a legend. Poe Dameronâs idol is Leia Organa. These characters grew up with the same stories we did, they look up to these heroes just like we do. The new star wars is a reflection of our generation. We can truly relate to these new heroes because we see ourselves in them.
Rey is given a luxury that comes so easily to male heroes â she simply turns a corner, finds a magical item (Luke Skywalkerâs Lightsaber, no less) and it awakens the Force in her. Just that. No searing infertility, no rape, no revelation of past abuse, no heartbreak, no sacrifice. No heroine whoâs validity is defined by what she has sacrificed, in the way of Katniss handing up her life for her sister, becoming a martyr for a revolution. In the way of Ariel, handing over her power to speak in order to walk on land. No poison apple, no needle on a spinning wheel here.

Good lord, what a great insight on Rey.
(via inapprehension)
It killed me seeing how poorly men reacted to her and how she âdidnât earn it,â or magically came by her power, as though Reyâs origin story isnât a subtle rehashing of Lukeâs and Anakinâs.  No one questioned how they could suddenly be so skilled and so powerful even though itâs arguable to say that Reyâs solitary scavenger life had equipped her with considerable survival skills that the other two hadnât yet acquired.  Power in women is often only earned through survival of abuse, as though it makes them worthy of the power than men can inherently own.  They have to prove they arenât âweakâ, which is fucked up considering itâs a litmus test that we often only put women through.
