“Oh damn it!” Jeri cursed and threw her computer mouse across the office. Her hand had seized up for the third time within the hour and she thoroughly blamed the tiny travel friendly computer mouse. She knew she should have gone back to the hospital and have her hand looked at, knew that leaving the ER to go to Pam’s aid hadn’t been the wisest of moves. But the cut seemed to have healed, leaving only a slim scar across her palm. 

At times, she mused  on how the cut had severed both her love line and her life line, leaving the two jagged and interrupted due to the scar. Most days she didn’t notice it, but today hadn’t been going her way and by now she longed for it to end so she could have a glass of wine and possibly a hot bath. However her calendar was fully booked and the next meeting about to start.
