Since everyone on Tumblr knows better... Next time there's a situation where someone like Cliven Bundy or Korryn Gaines decides to escalate a simple infraction to a felony and a standoff that gets someone killed because they believe they are somehow exempt to statutory laws and regulations, we will send a squad of Tumblr folks in to handle the situation. Caveat: you don't get any weapons or protective gear. After all, in your infinite expertise of dealing with these situations, you won't need them, obviously.

She was a mother in her own home with a child, if a cop feels the need to handle that situation with lethal force that is on the police officer. A taser is an alternative, talking down is an alternative. Not escalating the situation by taking out your gun in the first place is an alternative.

No. 1. Not everyone has access to mental health professionals. Therapy is expensive. 2. People know themselves better than anyone else will. 3. Self-diagnosing could potentially lead to a person working to improve their mental health. 4. There’s enough information available on the Internet (through the right sources) to make accurate diagnoses regarding pathological symptoms. 5. What someone else labels themselves isn’t anyone else business. 6. If a person finds a having a diagnosis helpful to themselves, it’s not wrong of them to self-diagnose.

This is a video Korryn Gaines uploaded minutes BEFORE she and her son were shot in their home.

The video does NOT have any imagery of blood/death, however it is still distressing because you can hear the police trying to break in, in the background and these are the final moments Korryn is to have with her children.

People are reporting that this video and Korryn’s other social media content is being taken down and silenced.

We should NOT remain silent whilst yet another black woman gets murdered by a unjust system.

They needed the SWAT team because at some point during the six hours of the standoff they realized she had said gun ready to go and was in fact loading it in plain sight of the door. That’s intent enough for any jury anywhere ever.

With the Korryn Gaines shooting, if the police were wearing body cams they won’t tell us or say they were off/broken because the camera would show if she really had a gun or not and their story will fall apart

She is taking a video and holding her son. How could she have also been pointing a shot gun at them? I suppose in theory it’s possible but it’s unlikely

The camera seems to be in her right hand meaning the gun if she had her hand on the trigger means it was he left hand. From what I’ve seen of shot gun or long guns, it’s not a gun you wield with one hand. It’s not a hand gun and you need to brace it on your shoulder. It has a lot of kick back(in the case of a shot gun) and they said that she fired multiple shots after the initial first shot that hit her. To properly reload the you need a hand on the trigger and a hand on the reloading part(idk the terms I’m not a gun fanatic) they had semi automatics.

Unless she also had an Assualt rifle, which is unlikely, their story doesn’t hold water. Even if she does have a AR, there are a lot of holes

Yeah, I know she had a gun but it’s not an excuse. In March 2016 she was brutalized by the police. Knowing that and knowing how many black people have been killed by the police recently it’s quite understandable she would be afraid and would feel the need to pick up a gun and defend herself. Especially when you look at the fact that they send a SWAT team to get her. It’s ridiculous.

They didn’t kill the man who had a 72 hour standoff with the police. They didn’t kill the man who threatened a police officer with a gun. But they kill a woman and wound her child over traffic violations? There’s no justifying this excessive use of force. There was no need to kill her. This is murder.

So you mean to tell me James Holmes, Dylan roof and countless other mass murders were practically in the same situation as this young woman here and for some strange reason they were able to be taken into custody alive and she’s dead? And someone being mentally ill doesn’t equal a death sentence so don’t come on my post saying she deserved this or her son to be injured either. Why do other countries have better interactions with police as well as low instances of police brutality and the US has the highest rates of police brutality as well as death at the hands of officers. This isn’t right.

Yeah, because they surrendered. Look up the Memphis Shootings in 2010 for a similar situation, even down to the ideology at hand, where white folks in a standoff with police were killed.

This is somewhat inaccurate. There are definite cases of white people receiving differential treatment, but all you have to do is look back to 2010 with a similar case of armed Sovereign Citizen nuts (who were white) being killed by police under similar circumstances (armed and threatening police - they had, admittedly, already killed 2 at the time).
