She pinioned her fluffy ears back at his remark. She huffed agitated. How could she? How would that even go!

Hey you’re really handsome and I’m attracted to you let me smash my mouth to yours?

Nonsense!

She let out a pitiful little whine in her throat in protest. She huffed again. The last remark caught her by surprise. Her red eyes focused on him. Her ears swiveled upwards. Her brain processing what he said to her.

“I….I can do that.” She said a soft smile tugging at her lips. At least she had done it. So now he knew either way. She cupped her coffee into her delicate hands, she smiled warmly down at the remaining pool in her cup. In private hm?

She finished her drink, and neatly stacked her things together to be taken away.

“Well! Where to now?” She asked raising a brow

There were plenty of other ways to give him a heads up - but he did not have the wherewithal to coach her on it. He was not familiar with the strange rituals of the weirdly physical expressions that she seemed to have her heart so set on.

It was up to her to figure it out. But neither was he daring her to do that.

He'd made his request. That was the size of it.

The follow up question had him clearing his throat.

"I've got a meeting to attend to in an hour or so. It's best we head back, for now." Thankfully, he thought. It would give him a moment to breathe and process. Dramatic in that way.

She shifted in her seat, lifting her cup she finished her drink. She nodded firmly, offering him a bright smile. Her tail was still wagging.

“A meeting? Yes, sir. Shall I attend and take notes or would you rather give me some other task?” She asked him Curiously her ears perked at the prospect of being helpful to him.

“We should get a leg on then, darling.” She offered as she began to collect herself.

She flushed “if I warned you you would have said no!” She blurted. She covered her face. Now tinged scarlet in the apples of her cheeks.

Wait.

That was their first kiss!? Her ears pinioned back at the thought. Her tail thumped loudly in the seat. She noticed he hadn’t protested too much either. She brushed hair from her face biting her lower lip, ruby red eyes meeting his gaze.

“Can’t a girl surprise ya?” She asked softly. She then swiftly buried back into her coffee. Averting her gaze.

Oh now she was going to be shy?

"That seems like a poor reason to not ask."

Truly, Alastor was griping just to gripe. As was his way. He did not need to draw further attention to the fact that it was not a thing he did very frequently for any real reason. Opening himself up to it - and especially in a public setting - seemed unwise.

Where it would likely seem normal to anyone else, he'd always been strange and off-kilter.

He cleared his throat, setting an elbow on the table and chin in hand in a moderately embarrassed pout.

"...Give me time to adjust to it in private before you start pulling it out in public," he muttered with some mild frustration. There. Compromise? Don't get emotional on him.

“Honey….I’m from New Orleans….I can manage sausage. I used to hunt down my own deer and gator. I know how to skin and breakdown.” She said those red eyes twinkling with pride.

“I’ll make you the best sausage you ever had.” She said lifting her nose up in a prideful air. If there was one thing was was confident about it was cooking. Her tail thumped in the seat, she looked across at him.

The coffee wasn’t satisfying her self. She huffed. Fortune favors the bold? She reached across the table, be brave little fox. Her fingers captured his chin and she leaned forwards. It wasn’t your typical kiss. Nope. She used her fangs to bite his lower lip playfully, before settling back down in her seat. Her ears flicked curiously watching his expression.

“Dat was a dank you for today….Cher.” She said her creole accent coming out in her anxious air.

...He'd not been prepared for that, no. But there was a benefit to it as well - that he'd not had any negative responses keyed up in response to the gesture, taking a few moments to process it, the accompanying bite, and the intent behind it. His ears gave a few agitated flicks, though his expression, when she released him, was not angry, per se.

More just-

Flustered with a small hint of irritation.

"You could have warned me first," was all he said. Not to mention the fact that they were still in public. It was a perfect storm to cause rumors to fly.

He did not feel negatively about the act as a whole. But he also did not know how to properly respond to it, and thus the fact that he was not pitching a fit would be all she would have to go on to make the determination that he was not outright upset.

She flushed “if I warned you you would have said no!” She blurted. She covered her face. Now tinged scarlet in the apples of her cheeks.

“You only have to ask you know. I’d say yes.” She shrugged. She went back to her coffee sipping it slowly.

“But yes? To the sausages I mean. Would you like me to make some? Would be great in jambalaya or gumbo.” She said softly.

When Alastor acted possessive like this…she wanted nothing more than to cup his face and kiss him. But she was unsure what that would result in, so like a coward she busied her mouth with her coffee. Her ears pinned and tail wagged anxiously.

"I'll keep that in mind."

Alastor was a stubborn bitch of a man. He would not be swayed so easily into showing vulnerability in the form of any sort of dependence. She would have to simply take what he was offering for what it was worth.

A kiss was best prepared for much better. Otherwise it was liable to result in a bite.

But it was unlikely that she would mind that either.

"...Sausages. Right. Yes. If you think you can manage it."

“You know…you can just admit you are wanting to keep me closer and away from other men who may try to steal me away into the night.” She said closing her eyes and sipping her coffee, saying it in such a strangely casual way.

Do not call him out on it.

"If I said that, that would only feed your ego," he replied with a roll of his eyes, though it was a thinly veiled attempt at obfuscating that she was correct. As far as he was concerned, no other man was worth her time. And he would not stand idly by to allow anyone else to gather her in their wretched claws.

Whatever that meant, he did not know specifically - except that he was possessive.

And he already knew that much.

"I simply think you are better off focusing on your work."

Alastor would occupy his own mouth with his drink. She was more astute than all that - but he would continue to lie anyway.

Kitty laughed lightly at him trying to smooth it over. “Darlin, that is wrinkled linen and you don’t have a lick of starch” she said teasingly.

Her ears perked up at his question. “No that was the only one…and I’ve kind of just been alone most of my time down here. I haven’t really dated, too afraid he would hurt them or just not interested. It has taken time for my briars to release enough to allow someone brave enough to tramp through them.” She said with a sad smile.

“Ah, excuse me, simple answer is no. Unless I have a stalker or something” she said with a small shrug. “Why do you ask, Cher?”

Hunting was never at the forefront of his mind anymore, but he understood that she still seemed to harbor some love for the art. He did not often get opportunities these days; busy as he was with hotel business that did not always lend itself to the chase of his more carnal and hungry desires.

He would not keep her from doing what she pleased, in that regard.

Alastor huffed a bit incredulously at the mention of a stalker.

"I think I could have noticed one of those by now."

That did not rule it out in the future, however. He'd have to keep an eye out...

"No reason," he answered evasively. "It is simply good to know if I need to exercise a bit more of a firm hand in order to ensure that you are able to do your work unimpeded. That's all."

Her eyes relaxed, she stared at him. Raising a brow, a coy smile followed. “Mmnhmm….sure.” She said playfully. That most certainly felt like an excuse.

“Keep your secrets then~” she further teased. She sipped her coffee lightly “I’ll get us fresh meat sometime soon then, maybe make some sausages. I’m still quite skilled at butchery” she said with a soft smile.

Kitty let out a laugh, then covered her mouth as it came out rather sharp and loud. “Alastor, I promise he would have been disgusting. I’m sorry you were disappointed you couldn’t try him.” She said seemingly amused.

She was sent into a little bit of a giggle fit, this man amused her so. Her tail wagged happily against the seat, as she felt a warmth spread through her. Her red eyes glimmered with joy.

Such a strange thing to find funny. However she was indeed a strange woman, was she not?

“Much better meat here, I assure you. Besides if you ate him he’d be so soaked in alcohol you could light your tongue on fire, I am certain!” She joked. She continued to eat her meal savoring the complex flavors.

Hah. Seen right through him. Even disgusting Sinner flesh was still appealing in its own right. Perhaps even more so. But he would not belabor the point, sighing wistfully in an overly dramatic way for comedic effect.

"Ah, but one can always imagine, hm?"

Hunger never fulfilled, either way.

"But I'm sure we will have better opportunities yet to indulge in the finer meats, as it were. We have an eternity, after all. "

Though a thought occurred, causing him to fall silent as he casually filtered through some of his mental possibilities before posing a question to her.

"Do you have any other hangers on that I should know about? Any other secret ex-lovers?"

“That we do indeed! I am excited to go on the hunt again soon. I can make us something very tasty, maybe honey and herb roasted thigh.” She pondered. Her tail wagged excitedly.

Her ears perked up at his question. “No that was the only one…and I’ve kind of just been alone most of my time down here. I haven’t really dated, too afraid he would hurt them or just not interested. It has taken time for my briars to release enough to allow someone brave enough to tramp through them.” She said with a sad smile.

Kitty gave him a soft smile. It almost felt. Normal? Was that the word? In all honesty it was certainly not normal. After all they were eating something many considered taboo even in hell. The inner predator in her just craved such things. Needing the organs and the blood, had to sate the wild beast just behind that mask of southern charm.

She sipped her coffee, “it is indeed a day to celebrate. I am finally free of that wretch and his constant lingering shadow. Now I can do as I please.” Well to an extent, her soul was bound to the man before her to whom she spoke such pleasantries. However, it was a choice she never regretted. In fact, she felt Alastor was one of the very few people she felt close to. There was a kinship, and a silent understanding of her being.

He knew exactly what she was, and he didn’t turn in fear or disgust. Hardly, he encouraged it. Her tail wagged excitedly, as she ate her sandwich savoring the rich meat. They’d actually basted it with honey and orange glaze. How delightful! “How is yours?” She asked curiously.

Alastor had never been an owner who hovered needlessly. Even his less favored contracted Sinners had mostly free reign - until he needed them for something or other. That was when he had a tendency to assert himself - or when a Sinner forgot who they were owned by.

But he'd not felt the need to do that in some time now. And certainly never with Kitty. She'd been nothing but loyal in servitude since he'd brought her into his thrall to begin with.

There was value in that.

He indulged, for the moment, on his meal. Ravenous as he always was, he did not see fit to be such an aggressive eater unless he was alone. Rather dainty, in fact, as he took polite little bites and savored the flesh within.

"Better than the flesh of a useless waste of Hell space," he said with a pleased huff. Convincing himself that the man would not have been tasty, even if he would have been.

Kitty let out a laugh, then covered her mouth as it came out rather sharp and loud. “Alastor, I promise he would have been disgusting. I’m sorry you were disappointed you couldn’t try him.” She said seemingly amused.

The little fox seemed even more excited he led her into somewhere that sold sweets. If there was something she loved most, it was cake and pastry. She had an awful sweet tooth, frequently keeping fresh made beignets or pralines at the tower.

She restrained herself from pressing her face to the glass. She merely bent close and studied the pastries and descriptions. Everyone had their favorite part, being a fox it was innards and sweet meats for her.

“I want the strawberry heart tart.” She said turning her face up to him. Her tail wagging excitedly, her ears perked high, “probably a ham sandwich as well.” Of course the ham….wasn’t really true ham. “One shouldn’t just eat sweets, oh and a black coffee.”

There was something appealing about playing the presumed role of the 'hero', if only for the moment. He knew it was done out of his own selfish need to garner further loyalty from her. And to fulfill a primal need to assert himself as the proverbial boogeyman. But that was just fine. Either way, her shifted mood into something joyful and lighthearted was well worth the effort, watching as she enthusiastically chose her treats of choice.

Alastor only needed to spare the cashier a pointed look for him to scrabble to fulfill her order - and his, which consisted of a black coffee for himself and a savory pastry that looked to be filled with... something suspect. Meats and other such things, one might presume - and deliver it to the small table that he eventually guided her to sit at.

Many of the other patrons seemed to take their leave unless they were actually cannibals - the residents there had a higher tolerance (and appreciation) for the radio demon than many other casual Sinners who simply dabbled in the cuisine.

He did not mind. His reputation could always use the bolstering.

"Eat up," he said. "Today is a day worth celebrating, yes?"

“I could certainly eat, that just wet my appetite. Perhaps a swing by cannibal town? I could use something more…exciting for dinner.” She said looking up at him “wouldn’t you agree?”

Kitty was excited to end this chapter in her life, but it felt like a new one was truly beginning. It had been hinted, interlaced in the past chapter, but now it felt it was beginning in earnest. Her tail wagged content behind her, ears perked and turned up towards him. Always at attention to listen to him.

"Well, if you insist."

He was not about to turn down the idea - especially not when he'd had such a tantalizing meal before him and had gifted her the patience needed to ensure that her former husband would not return. Had Alastor thought to turn him into a meal instead, he would have simply regenerated, albeit not for a good while.

To the cannibal town they would go, stepping casually to leave behind the remnants of the offending Sinner, until Alastor could pull her into a small pseudo-bakery which served an assortment of flesh-filled pastries and other such confectionaries.

The only real 'sweet' adjacent treats that he could truly enjoy.

She looked at the blood stain for a moment. A smile twisted across her lips, baring fangs. “How about we go dancing? I feel I could days for hours now.” Her voice was calm, red eyes flicked to his.

What decision would she make? Now that she was free of that burden? Well, time would tell. For now she was content to walk by his side, tangled in the shadows and briars of the darker side. It was a path she was already too far down, and one she relished.

She would gladly further ensnare herself in his thorns.

Alastor's gaze shifted from her hand that seemed to wipe away some of that blood back to her. And he could not help but let out an amused exhale from his nose. Fond, perhaps, was the word he might use.

"Dancing? After that? HAH! You remind me of your unflagging stamina once again."

And it was certainly not a no. He gave a nod before offering his arm for her to take.

"Though I may make a pit stop for some food."

Hungry. As he ever was.

Despite that, he did not think her to mind, and as they strode back towards the mouth of the alley, the radio demon thought to himself, with some satisfaction, that there was nothing keeping her from exercising full loyalty to him now.

And that was just peachy with him.

Freedom from that bastard was now in her grasp. She exhaled feeling a weight lifting from her shoulders. The blood splattered on her face from the violence occurring. Her clawed finger drew threw it, and she lapped it from the tip. Perhaps now she could move on. Move forwards.

Her past was becoming a hazy memory. No more fear. No more holding back. It was like the door to her cage had been opened and now she was free to roam the wild woods before her. The little fox chittered excitedly, tail wagging wildly. The taste of copper on her tongue drew her pupils to slit.

“Thank you, Alastor.” She said turning her face up to him. There was a feral, blood thirsty look on her features but also a sense of relief and of peace. “I hope he suffers for all eternity.” She smirked cruelly.

Once the Sinner had been fully absorbed, leaving behind an otherwise unremarkable smear of viscera upon the concrete, Alastor allowed himself to settle. The minions had vanished into the portals alongside the tendrils, the radio demon's eyes having shifted back to their normal deadened state as he stepped over to where she was. The residual growth of his antlers would take some time to diminish once again, but he did not seem to mind.

"He will. Such is his fate."

He had seen to it.

"And you are now free to make your own decisions without the burden of his shadow looming over your shoulder."

“I thank you for that.” She reached forwards swiping crimson from his cheek and drew her thumb to her mouth licking it off. “Well…I feel like celebrating. That was almost a hundred years of being chained.”

In the midst of his carnage, his ear swiveled around to where Kitty began to circle and approach. The minions, despite their fervor, settled into a quiet pause as they stepped away from the Sinner to give her the moment to give him her final word. Alastor was silent, continuing to loom with heavy predatory tendrils lying in wait as she explained.

Her moral code was an interesting one - and one that many attributed to he himself. While Alastor made no secret of arriving to defend a few of his contracted Sinners that held his favor, it was not out of some sense of justice in the way that Kitty seemed to have adopted for herself. He did not think little of the cause; the justification. It was what it was.

But the radio demon was no bastion of justice nor dispenser of righteous judgement. He had marred and consumed plenty of Sinners, both women and men alike.

It was simply coincidence, in the moment, that his desires aligned with Kitty's.

When she seemed to conclude her monologue - and Alastor might give her props for theatrics - he wasted little time in snaring each of the Sinner's limbs in a tendril each. They pulled at arms, legs, and at his head; a single tendril wrapped around his tendril throat. The minions needed little encouragement to continue their carnage, biting at the stretched flesh to try and sever it.

Though they would not get very far, he thought. Sooner or later, the tendrils would peel the man apart and tug him into the voidal abyss of each of those portals wherein the Sinner would not return. And into the otherwise somewhat dormant stream of voices along the crackling radio waves of his broadcast, another would be heard eventually.

A wail added to the cacophony long awaiting a new arrival.

She felt relief hearing that terrifying voice. Feeling the malice and darkness encroach them. Many would be horrified, but Kitty felt safety. He had come. This was over. It was a massive wave of relief that crashed over her.

Quickly she darted away from Greg. Finding solace in shadow. Her breath sharp, and heavy as the adrenaline from the situation began to falter. Panic subsided as she regained herself. He was trapped now.

“What the fuck?!” He gasped in surprise seeing the imposing figure of the radio demon encroaching “look man I didn’t know she was your girl alright…I’ll get out of here promise!” He said raising his hands

“No no….Greg. You aren’t going anywhere. You have to pay for your sins. For your crimes when you were alive.” She said finding strength in Alastor’s presence. “For your crimes against me”

“What do you mean against you? Who are you?” He asked sounding afraid.

“I’m offended you’ve forgotten me. I’m Katherine Hartfeild.” She said her eyes burning with rage.

He went slack jawed. Then his face twisted into rage “you bitch!! I got offed by the feds because of you! Because I ended your pathetic life. You were a shitty fucking wife. I wasted money on you.” He growled.

Kitty seethed with anger but stayed put. Her red eyes bore into Greg’s. “I hope you suffer.” She snarled

All the begging in the world would not have saved the man - pathetic and mewling like a petulant child - from what Alastor intended. From deep in the wells of shadow, more and more of the overlord's minions because to seep out and into the alley. Gnashing teeth and chittering excitement illustrated their desire to rend and tear, with Alastor's deadened gaze - eyes blackened with the spin of red dials in place of pupils - fixed on their eventual target.

He did not wait for permission before the little creatures surged forward and began to fervently claw and bite at the Sinner's ankles. As they worked to climb the man's legs and take him down to the ground, the rising, loud buzz of radio interference churned in the air around the alley. Wide, yawning maw-like portals opened and spawned his blackened tendrils from various angles, slithering like too-many snakes along the alley's dark, concrete floor. They circled and dragged, as though waiting for whatever remains were left to wrap around and pull into the voidal abyss.

Alastor took steps closer - bit by bit, the environment around him beginning to sway and corrupt. The red from his eyes glowed eerily, the dials ticking second-by-second. As though taking stock of how many seconds the Sinner had left before the radio demon truly stepped in to make ring the final death knell.

Regenerative or no-

The man would not be coming back.

Kitty watched at a distance. Many would flee in terror at the sight of the monster, no the demon before them. She stood in face watching. Enthralled. Seeing Alastor in this way always excited the deepest part of her. The primal part. The one that loved blood and the sting of pain. Her pupils slitted in reply. Fangs bared, saliva tickling down her chin. Looking much more like a wild beast than a woman at the moment.

She could smell fear. Greg was practically frothing at the mouth at this point. Backed against the wall, at his knees pleading mercy. That fell on deaf ears. Alastor would shred this man to bits for his transgressions. The fox inside rattled against its cage. Hungry for blood shed. For viscera.

Her tongue slicked over her fangs, fangs snapped together in anticipation. Eager to witness crimsons staining the concrete below. Desperate to feed on the swine of a man who made her existence a living hell. He wasn’t so scary now, pleading and screaming as the little beasts Alastor employed clawed at him.

The scent of blood caused a shift in Kitty. She drew closer from the shadows. Alastor could hear a demonic growl from her, the sound of a beast unleashed. She was salivating. Saliva dripping from her fangs as she panted wildly, breath visible on the air. Her calm little practiced voice she used, breathy and light reminiscent of the 1920s was gone. There was something more natural now. Her actual voice laced with the screams of wild foxes

She paused a moment her eyes flicking over the stack. “What ever is all of this? Not to sound rude….but surely not guest applications.” She grabbed a few papers straightening them into neater, smaller stacks.
