My favorite bit in Miss Saigon is just as the dance sequence in 'The American Dream' kicks in!
My marching band is playing music from this show and I have completely fallen in love with it! Bui Doi brought me to tears.
Natalie Mendoza distracts from the show too much. Every single time she is on stage, it's like she has this necessity to draw attention to herself, and it's most often not welcome. When Kim and Chris are having their first dance, I should be able to focus on that and not Gigi, in the background, screaming "YOU FIXED IT!!!"
Just because I'm completely obsessed with this show, I started writing the screenplay for the movie just for fun. I think it would be so cool to cast a COMPLETE unknown teen for Kim in the movie. Imagine, only the back of Kim's head is shown for the entirety of the Overture/Backstage. And then BAM, the camera swerves around to a completely new face for "I'm seventeen and I'm new here today.."
This show is my guilty pleasure... literally! I've loved this show since I'm too young to even watch it. But I feel so guilty admitting that to anyone because it's just too problematic. It's like falling for the bad boy kinda thing. You know he's bad for you but you just can't stay away. Help!
My dream role has got to be 'The Engineer'! Every actor puts their own magic little touch to the character, and I would love to do that one day.
I just read that Kwang-Ho is back in his home country and performing in the musical Death Note. The Korean audience is saying he's just fantastic! But honestly, I really hope he would go to Broadway to play Thuy. He would be one of the few Korean actors on Broadway, and I'm very certain he would blow the audience away with his amazing talent :)
Eva would make a great Elphaba.
They’ll obviously never do this, especially now that the show is closing, but I wish the West End production would donate some of its earnings to a charity that fights against human trafficking, sex tourism, and prostitution.
I saw Natalie Mendoza as Eponine in the mid-90s Australian production of 'Les Miserables'. I thought at the time she'd be a great Kim, so I'm glad she's getting a chance to be in 'Miss Saigon' now.
If they cast Rachelle as Kim, there would be another extension.
Just bought my ticket for the closing performance. I figure if I start collecting boxes of Kleenex now, by then I should have enough to get me through the night.
Kim is my dream role. I've started taking singing and acting lessons to help me improve my theatrical potential and encourage my anxiety to settle down. I live in the UK and I've only just heard the news it's closing in the West End next year. I'm very very shocked and I don't know what to do. I didn't know it was that tentative… I thought it would run for much longer.
I honestly think that Eva would do a lot better in a different role than in Miss Saigon. Basing it on her performance of Take Me or Leave Me, her singing is best showcased and is at her best in belty songs (like Take Me or Leave Me). She does incorporate that strength in her Kim but she is yet to find the right mix to make everything work for her.
I love Na-Young Jeon’s chemistry with Ton Sieben!
Miss Saigon is closing. RIP my hopes and dreams of making my West End debut in my favourite show.
I don't understand Eva's riffs. I have seen her attempt to riff on a few separate performances now, but they are very poorly executed and take away too much from the songs. I wish she would stick to the original tune.
