to be honest at the end of tlou2 , when epilouge ellie walks away from the farm house, I see lots of people saying that they think she went back to jackson, but personally, I don't think so. joel was her home, and if he's not at jackson anymore, then it isn't her home to her. and she's like really stubborn and in her head would probably think dina hates her or just would never want to see her again, and would be to disappointed in her self to tell tommy she didn't kill abby. I don't know. I could be completely wrong, but I just don't think she went back to jackson.

But it is her home. Her life doesn't stop at Joel. Plus it's a home she has because of him and family and friends she made because of him. Ellie believe it or not ends the game in a better place than she was throughout the game. I personally think it would negate her character development to say she's still dwelling in that depression. She overcame it. I can't say what she'll end up doing for sure, but I don't think her next steps forward will be made out of fear, insecurity, or hopelessness.

Generally, the entire storyline of tlou2 is based on Israeli occupation. The W.L.F are literally a fictional IDF with the seraphites being the resistance against the WLF and therefore a parallel to Palestinians, with that being said, the seraphites are portrayed as underdeveloped, religious, cult-like fanatics and in the part of tlou2 where Abby is reading out the wishes of the seraphites, a seraphite wishes for peace, to which Abby replies “want peace? Stay on your island then” which is literally a 1 to 1 parallel to Zionist rhetoric (telling Palestinians to stop resisting and stay in their areas etc.) , another point is that throughout the gameplay of tlou2 the player will find themselves clearing out entire blocks and killing every person they come across (even people uninvolved) just for the sake of finding ONE person in said area, again, another parallel to Zionist rhetoric and Israeli aggression (such the IDF bombing civilian areas and claiming there are terrorists hiding there)

Storyline aside, Neil Druckman is generally also a huge Zionist who donates to Israel and the IDF and said he “has urges and thoughts” of harming Palestinians. 🙃

I could definitely be missing a few things but these are the parallels I can name from the top of my head, hope this helped!

I think $10 to upgrade a game you already bought is excusable. If you can counter it by donating twice the amount to aid to Gaza, that’s much better. Unfortunately, the majority influence is from our taxes which we cannot avoid legally… voting is the best way to change this (slowly, albeit…). Neil is not single-handedly funding the occupation. Your $10 there isn’t making a statistically significant dent in the resources Israel has available. I just don’t think that math will math. Unfortunately.

Voting in every election though? Yes. Spreading information on your platform(s)? Yes. Donating if you can? Obviously. Writing your legislators, signing petitions, marching, etc, yes yes yes. Denying yourself one $10 game upgrade and claiming to make a difference? Nah…

A massive country-wide no work protest? We get even just 30% of people to walk out or refuse to work for a week? It wouldn’t take long for the economy to start to suffer… if you had PTO you could be ok… obviously not accessible for everyone. I’m just saying that something as big as a genocide and international justice failure isn’t going to stop because some people in a niche video game community stop buying into it… and there is no ethical consumption under capitalism…

Now, that doesn’t mean we should do nothing. There are some actually helpful things to do. #1 being never shut up about it! Sticker, canvass, talk to your family and friends about it, vote, write your legislators, post on social media about it. Pick one thing and do it consistently, at a minimum.

Ofcourse there are MORE things to do than just boycotting, this (boycotting) is one way of support out of many and you should try to practice as many ways of support for Palestine as you can. With that being said, if you really are pro Palestine I don’t understand why you try to excuse or justify giving money to a Zionist especially a Zionist who uses the money that he gets from the game to donate to Israel. Once again, mathematically, Neil isn’t making a statistically significant contribution to the problem. Even with the money he gets from TLOU. Not all of the $10 goes directly to him by any means… Not at all trying to absolve him, just the math… some boycotts aren’t effective enough to be worth the struggle in my opinion. You can hate me for that if you want, not everyone wants to be friends with everyone and that is perfectly fucking fine. There are far more effective things that I can focus my efforts on. Similarly, a week of not posting about TLOU isn’t affecting any money or resources going to Israel or Gaza… unless the posts were Blazed maybe. Who even does that tho… if doing these extra performative things makes you feel better then go for it.

And no, to be honest, it’s incredibly hard for me to let this go. This game is everything to me. It keeps my mental health up by providing something fun with achievable goals mixed in. That’s something I need to not feel like killing myself… TLOU2 saved my life back in January… I’m not capable of boycotting TLOU right now. Sorry. If that makes some of you hate me on here, fine. I’m just trying to not be dead. I’m doing what I can - I’ve added time into my schedule for posting and speaking about Palestine here on Tumblr and Facebook. I keep up with the news about it. Can we not shit on people who are doing what they can? Infighting also isn’t going to stop the genocide either… some people can’t attend protests or marches for accessibility reasons. Do you shit on them for not doing it bc you did and you feel like everyone should be held to your standard…?

Some of us need to keep a bit of distance between ourselves and the daily horrors of real life… if I pay too close attention to horrible things like this, I simply want to die. Because this is all fucking awful. Why would I want to be alive when this is the shit that happens?? And I have to protect my mentally ill brain somehow. Idk. Idk what else to say. Visual appeal was there definitely since Hannibal is an aesthete, but the goal was to tell the motives of the characters involved. The murders meant something for Will/ Hannibal or other characters, they enhanced the story of the main characters and defined key transformations (becoming) of the characters. Hannibal’s investigations focused on the gory murder tableaus and the killer’s, getting into the minds of the twisted serial killers. Vice versa, Clarice’s approach to investigations is solely honed in on the victims, how did they get here, how did these victims correlate to one another, what ties them together? It’s a fairly canonical interpretation, given that Clarice’s own big breaks in The Silence of the Lambs were in investigating the past victims and figuring out those commonalities. Of course there was more to Hannibal than just the murders of the week. You can’t make a show about just snuff. Just like there’s a lot more to Clarice than just the crimes she investigates, a large part of the plot is also in Clarice navigating her career in a male dominated field whilst living with the PTSD stemming from the Buffalo Bill investigation, as well as Catherine Martin’s own severe PTSD. Kurtzman, in that quote, is specifically speaking about the way cases will be presented. The question Kurtzman was asked that lead to this answer was specifically about the cases. “As for just how intense the cases that Agent Starling and the VICAP investigate will get on the broadcast network, Kurtzman says it depends on what the case needs to say about our characters and their world.“
