and yes, tagalog is my first language! i’m so happy you’re studying up on it because i think it’s such a wonderful and expressive language. personally, i’ve always thought that it may be hard for people to learn tagalog from scratch, especially now since tagalog is a language often spoken with varying inflections, a load of slang, and shortened words. i think getting to know the basics is a good start, and i would 100% recommend immersing yourself in pinoy culture (ie. movies and songs) because if there’s one thing we love, it’s a reference to popular media! and there’s no other way to get the inflections and tones right other than hearing people say it out loud.
