I recently got a butter corn snake and he is stunning. No edits whatsoever, I just used my phone's dual camera

I guess this dude must trust me a little if he lets me get this close with my phone camera
How do you financially provide for all your lil Scalie housemates?
Me, my fiance and our roommate do a lot of public events, educational presentations, and birthday parties with the reptiles. They also work day jobs but I haven’t found one yet since moving to Oregon, so I have been focusing on my writing and hopefully making a career out of that. A great deal of our enclosures and other supplies are donated to us (we also get wholesale on goods from the all-rescue pet store we used to work at in California and we buy our feeders online in bulk) so that also helps lower the cost of upkeep. Our vet is also low cost and wonderful.
He hasn’t figured out it’s a cave yet
I want to get a large lizard at some point. I'd like to give the little guy some free roam time in my house, and I was wondering, if I made a giant humid hide out of one of those plastic dog igloos for when he was free roaming, do you think that would be beneficial? I could fill it up with sphagnum moss and I have a DIY for a mister where I could direct the mist with plastic tubing. Maybe I could attach a heat mat with a thermostat, too. What do you think? Thank you for your time! 🐌
It really depends on what species you’re thinking of getting and the individual animal. For the temperature and humidity requirements of most large lizards, and burrowing needs of a lot of monitors and tegus, you will probably be better off building a large enclosure and just letting the animal out for roaming time when you’re home to supervise for a few hours at a time and then returning them to their enclosure.
Reticulated python or green tree python?
