Well this was one of the most shocking things I’ve seen in a while, let alone take pictures of, it still makes me a little uncomfortable looking back at this photo set. From a distance we thought we were looking at a large rock with the way the light was hitting it, but I noticed it had this odd shape to it like a head connected to this truly massive “rock”. So Andre my friend went and took a closer look while I stayed a distance to shoot some photos of our surroundings. Moments later I hear Andre deeply exhale and look back at me with a face that said it all, “its a sea lion dude”. As I got closer waves of shock coursed through me, the sheer size of this creature sunk in, this is the largest sea lion I’ve ever seen at least 8ft in length. I then noticed the huge chunk of flesh missing out of its neck and its eyes now hanging out of its face, a truly gruesome story began to reveal itself. It really puts things in perspective seeing a creature this magnificent, this huge laying to finally rest via a brutal attack. A wave of vulnerability washed over me in this moment, followed by a wave of gratitude for this life, and as I looked around I smiled, what a beautiful place to take your last breaths on this planet.
