THANK YOU - thanksgiving is a few days away & i've really genuinely been in my feelings so hard of late when it comes to our little corner of the rpc. this fandom has been amazing since i joined it in 2022, and i am very very thankful for it and all of you every day. i have met some of my very best friends because of this show and this trash site that has us all in a chokehold despite its many flaws (there's a reason we call it dumblr). it has been an incredibly trying year, and not just for me. many people have been feeling the weight of life and this month especially has been incredibly stressful, sad & rage inducing given the pol.itical climate. my dashboard has been a welcome reprieve from all of it, and getting to talk with all of you more has been such a delight and i wanted to say thank you.

thank you for being you, for your kindness, for you acceptance of new people in this rpc, for being so open to ocs when that is not always the case in the rpc. i just adore all of you and wanted to fully write and show my thanks. it's hard to do much over the internet, but i wanted to list off those of you in this community whether you're a single muse, multi muse, canon character, oc, have ck verses. i just think everyone should be aware of how wonderful this section of the rpc is.

it frustrates me when the writers suggest that someone like robby, with a past involving juvenile detention or a criminal record, has no future. being in juvie or having a criminal record doesn’t automatically disqualify someone from attending college. plus, the idea that college is the only path to success is outdated and limiting. robby, like anyone else, can absolutely pursue higher education and carve out a successful future for himself despite everything he's been through.

i think what makes me so emotional is that during that brawl at the end of ep 10, all of the miyagi-do’s and even tory were looking out for each other the entire time. everyone else there was fighting for themselves. and that’s why at the end of the day, they are going to win.

ㅤㅤ“ It suits you. ”  The lofty man’s attention lingers against the formation of the white strip of material enveloping the teen’s crown for a few seconds too long, line of vision eventually lowering with a faint albeit  duplicitous  amiable smile that doesn’t quite reach overeager eyes. Silver knew that the younger had the drive within him to achieve the coveted position of the team’s co-captain, but it doesn’t quite match expectations, especially when considering how his performance has been wavering so drastically with each event the dōjōs partake in  (  the boy’s a walking Achilles heel for LaRusso & Lawrence  ).  This almost feels cruel with a far too easy target, and yet— “ A big step up from second place, don’t you think? ”

the subtle compliment, or whatever it was, didn't land the way silver probably hoped. robby knew that look—that calculated, almost appraising way of watching, like he was waiting for some sign of weakness, some crack in the armor. and while he might have fell for it back then, he wasn’t the same kid who used to train under the man's manipulative influence.

he straightened slightly, his posture relaxed, wanting to appear unbothered by the man's words. hazel eyes flicked to his reflection in the window, then to the white cloth wrapped around his head, the symbol of his new position. "second place was just where i was, not who i am,” robby replied, his tone calm but carrying an edge. “doesn’t matter where i start—it’s where i finish that counts.”

there’s only one major problem i had with robby’s arc this season. they made his poor performance mostly about his connection to tory. sure, she’s a factor, but it shouldn’t be the main reason for his lack of focus. robby has always made it clear that he doesn’t want to be second place. so the way they showed him constantly looking to tory for validation and being thrown off by her presence more than once felt unrealistic to me. instead, i wish they’d leaned more into the idea that robby is struggling because he’s never had people relying on him the way he does now. he’s always had to look out for himself, and suddenly being a leader and having others depend on him is a huge adjustment. that would’ve felt like a more natural and believable reason. being a leader doesn’t come easily to him, and it makes sense that he would falter when he’s not used to the responsibility. his performance should’ve been portrayed more as a result of him grappling with this new role, rather than just being distracted by tory’s decision to go to cobra kai.

i really don't know what the writers have against johnny and robby, but there hasn't been a single emotional scene between them in this entire season so far.

robby took a deep breath, his eyes flickering with a mix of frustration, guilt, and confusion. he could feel the weight of sam’s words pressing down on him, but he tried to keep his voice steady as he spoke. “i didn’t know, sam. not in the way you’re thinking.” his words came out slow, as if he was still trying to piece things together in his own head. “yeah, tory came to me, she told me about kreese, how he was trying to mess with her head, trying to get her to turn against miyagi-do. but she never said she was planning to leave."

robby paused, running a hand through his hair, his eyes downcast as he tried to find the right words. “i could have come to you, i know. i should’ve been more open. but i didn’t think it was that serious. i didn’t want to blow it out of proportion, make it seem worse than it was. and i was trying to protect her, too. you know how the others would have responded. i didn’t want anyone to think she was plotting something behind our backs when she wasn't."
