parts do not need names

the idea that all parts need names to be considered "fully elaborate parts" is a dated one, and one that I frequently see individuals much earlier on in their recovery perpetuating.

if your parts have their own names, that's great. if you named your parts and your parts are comfortable with that, that's also great. plenty of people, however, do not have parts with names, or only some of their parts have names. this does not have to do with whether or not that part is "elaborated enough" to be a part -- a name does not make up an entire identity, it is only one facet of an identity.

please be respectful if you see someone referring to their parts with functional labels (e.g. "the one who does x/y/z"). it is not inherently "dehumanizing" as I've seen some people suggest. perhaps someday that part will have a name, or perhaps a name is not needed as part of their recovery, and that should be respected.

you know what's pissing me off more than simply and octo being shut down? the fact that there are people who are honest to god saying that it's "not a big deal" or that it "doesn't matter".

do you realize that systems have kept years worth of front logs in simply plural? do you realize that polyfrag systems have kept information on hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of alters and fragments in these apps? what do you suggest they do if they're an Apple user and don't have access to any of these smaller alternative projects that are currently out? manually transcribe that all into a notebook or notes app? just simply not bother and let all of that information and all of their symptom history fade into obscurity from dissociation and amnesia?

honestly, i'm SO glad that some of you are privileged enough to easy keep track of your symptoms yourself, or to have a smaller system with less information about parts that can be easily kept in a notebook or notes app. i'm SO glad that some of you are android users who are able to use some of the current alternatives that are out right now, or are able to push past the buggy aspects of many of these current options. not everyone can fucking do that.

just because these apps "aren't important" for YOUR functionality or YOUR recovery doesn't mean that all systems don't need them. it fucking baffles me that a disabled community can look at its own disability aids made for it and think "nah, no one needs these". you wouldn't say the same thing if you were physically disabled and you personally didn't need a wheelchair, so why the FUCK are we letting the system community spread this mindset?

hi. my sys has over a thousand parts and about 700-800 parts are logged on simply. We use apple, We store information in custom fields, and that often doesnt transfer over apps even if there were any.

We cannot physically or manually write that down, That would take us literal months, and we are in a huge exam period right now (57 days left).

Our exams finish after the proposed sp shutdown

So what? We cant manually transfer it, we have no alternate that imports custom fields

So we have the json files and we just have to HOPE we can do something with them in the future??? Or just let our detailed mh info disappear because we dont remember that! We have spent three YEARS logging information.

Hey Teto, if this helps at all I wanted to share what we did with our simply plural info? We got an account on writelighthouse and imported all of our members (you can have multiple listed systems on there too!)

It doesn't have front tracking or logging but if you have fancy custom descriptions it will keep those in the import. And at the very least you will have your entire list of alters saved elsewhere just in case.
