Critics doubted Swift's songwriting abilities early in her career, and as a reaction, Swift conceived this self-written album. For many critics, Speak Now solidified Swift's songwriting and artistic abilities. She described this album as "a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing and living to speak about it." The album went on to receive many accolades including two Grammy awards.
