8Quick vent, like we gladly pay multi-million dollar contracts to athletes, celebrities, and musicians, which serve a purpose, but the fact that we place at the same time such a high value on good teachers, good cops, good emergency responders, health care workers, good civil servants, etc... yet at the same time are so quick to discount a mediocre cost of living wage, not even a raise but an increase in pay to match inflation so you know people that make the same they did 10 years ago are actually losing money because costs of goods and services have gone up. The fact that these people are doing good and no one joins these careers to become rich but to make a difference, to make a better society, unselfishly and usually at a cost to themselves is a major issue. We are experiencing a shortage of people willing to take these vital roles in our society because they get beat up from all sides. This will only get worse unless we change the status quo and acknowledge the hard work and sacrifice these people give in order to preserve and sustain the current and future society we have. Those that stay dedicated and still pursue and excel at these careers, kudos to you, you are really fighting the good fight and deserve more support from our society.

Watching him walk away

Is one of the hardest things I have to do.

We know walking away is part of our life. We expect it, but it gets harder each, and every time.

Our love is worth it, 100 times over, but watching him walk away shatters my heart into a million pieces.

People who have their partners close to them all of the time, take it for granted. Even if you think you don’t, I can promise you, you do.

Something as small as getting to watch a tv show that we both love, while laying on the couch together means the world to us.

Our everyday normal is not being together. Our everyday normal is seeing couples all around us, doing things we only wish we could.

So we cherish the small things. Those moments where we feel we are a normal couple. Waking up together, coming home to each other after work, making dinner, and even running errands. The mundane are our cherished moments.

But watching him walk away will forever be the worst thing.

I hope that one day, I won’t have to watch him leave. One day he’ll come home, and stay home.

But until then, we will forever cherish the small moments.

Leaving her is the hardest thing and it doesn't get any easier. Although our current distance sucks, I do feel that it makes us stronger and like Kitten said more appreciative of the time and moments we do have together. All of the moments count if you make them count.
