My dad may have had his time cut short, but I have to remind myself that I had a better dad In that short time than most people have in a lifetime. My dad took me to breakfast every morning on the first day of school whether it was kindergarten or 12th grade. He was early to every softball game with a cooler of Gatorade in his hand and cheered the loudest for me and the whole team. I can't even count the number of field trip lunches he packed and cut the crust off of my PB&J's. Or the number of team dinners he made with a smile on his face and a mess in the sink. He cried during every father daughter dance- and we weren't even the ones dancing. He bought me ICEE's for years every time I got my braces tightened and I didn't even have to ask. He always gave everything he had and never once bragged about it. He taught me everything I know, and on hard days-like today (or everyday) I have to remind myself that he is living his dream up in heaven.
