Making progress on my modular character setup
The combination of wanting to make a low poly modular character system and the new Star Fox news has produced a creature
I've got a small conundrum I want to make a simple low poly character template, sorta like animal crossing, with multiple types of characters all sharing the same rig and expressions for short faced characters this is pretty simple, I can have a base head material, then separate the eyes and the mouth into their own materials, then just slide the UVs around a texture sheet to change the expressions, exactly like mega man legends but fuck do what with long face?

Got a Gustaff modeled, currently working on the texture. Lots of going back to tweak the UVs but its coming along nicely. The colors aren't quite right, but I'm trying to stick to 3 major colors and using lighting to drive the variation
By sticking to 3 primary colors (in this case salmon, burgundy, and grey) I can manipulate them in engine to be whatever color I want, same way Halo does it, the lighting gets added on top in the material, as shown in the attached images
Tried my hand at recreating Volnut from Mega Man Legends in the original style, using models resource to get an idea of the polygon structure and concept art for the actual shape, its resulted in some noticeable differences in proportions but I'm pretty happy with it
I've added the helmet and support for palette swapping like in classic and X

Decided to do some environment practice
Put together some armor for some kobold space pirates. I think the undersuit texture came out pretty good but the texture for the armor its self could probably use a little more love. Also considering scaling up the kobolds for the first time in nearly 5 years
