during my initial coming to contact with communism/marxism/ML thought i was at some point confronted with the history of soviet deportations, and i could not for the life of me understand how you could possibly even try to rectify whatever happened. More importantly, I really could not understand how a structure capable of commanding ethnic cleansing/engineering from above (including my people) of such a wide scale could ever have anything to do with "workers rule" or an emancipatory movement. I think that was a pivotal moment for me lol
