this never made a whole lot of sense to me because i specifically remember before season 5 how much people actually analysed EL to prove byler. a byler arc and the arc el was theorised to have were set to complement each other. el doesn’t get in the way of byler in this way at all, we aren't doing away with her. her arc doesn’t have to be diminished for byler to work, in fact we thought it would be made better. the reason i was so invested in this ship wasnt just bc i was waiting to see mike and will confess to each other, it was because the three characters were so interestingly connected to me nad had so much potential to better each other by figuring out who they were meant to be

this is the best description for how i feel about the dumbass “do you think eleven is alive?!? do you believe?!?” question that they’re trying to make such a bigger deal out of than necessary

i hate the question because it’s like who gives a fuck the finale was shit and we all agree. like no one actually cares about that ending because people felt the finale was so bad that so many thought the only explanation was that it wasn’t REAL. can we be fr like ?

its kind of insane how, if you want to start rewriting season 5, you also have to deal with the shitty writing decisions made in season 4, and so you might as well rewrite season 4, but then you have to contend with the decisions in season 3, so you MIGHT AS WELL REWRITE SEASON3- and and fuck it maybe the entire show

something that would dampen my hope frequently before season 5 was when i’d realize that season 5 being good (having an outcasts and love wins centric-ending) kind of really relied on the idea that the past two-three seasons could’ve been viewed as “bad on purpose” to lead to a much more scrumptious, meaningful plot all at the end/big finale.

which is, in retrospect, not the sturdiest grounds to stand on for the ending of the show. and required a LOT of faith that the duffers were amazing genius writer directors with a very clear vision they wanted to execute as well as possible.

…and i see why this was the main reason i’d get byler doubt before the finale. cause truthfully there were so many moments id pause and be like… hold on… SHOULD we have so much faith in them tho, guys?
