Me in 2006: I’m still bitter about that
Me in 2016: I’m still salty about that
Me in 2026, probably: I’m still umami about that
Well, are you?. We’re waiting.
There’s a lot to be umami about these days.

chapter six: The CIA in Moscow is out 🥰
if u are looking for a multi-pov byler-centric st5 rewrite that doesn’t forget its ensemble cast with snappy dialogue: wrestling with the demons (moving the party forward)
the epilogue’s long been posted but I still love this bit I wrote and want to remind everyone of it!!!
I love the Powerpuff Girls

idk i would personally rather give up access to certain products seasonally or locally than have people enslaved to give me the ability to have any product any place any time. i think i can go without tomatoes in january.
i truly do think that most people if confronted with it and pressed on it would agree. but it's comfortable to gain privileges from someone else's suffering, especially if you don't have to see that suffering directly.
No matter how progressive or well-read you are, there are always going to be moments in your life where somebody pushes back against something that's so culturally ingrained you never even considered it before. And you'll say "Huh, it never occurred to me to challenge this but you're right" and that doesn't mean you were "morally toxic" before, it means you're a non-omniscient human capable of growth.
I stopped trying to be a perfect ally, because A) It's not possible, and B) I sucked at it, so with the above mindset as an approach, I instead aim to be the kind of ally that marginalized people are comfortable talking to when I screw up. I feel like it's a lot more achievable.
how it all feels lately
i still think about this
Idk there’s something about how Will was barely in season one but we understand his importance through the rest of the characters reaction to his disappearance: his family, friends and entire town looking for him and being wrecks when he’s gone.
And then Holly disappearing in season 5 with more screen time than most main characters yet her family barely talks about missing her, we barely see them panicking, and the emotional impact of her absence lacks the depth and urgency that made us care about Will as an audience in the first place.
They completely missed what made Will’s disappearance so horrifying in season one and replaced it with a watered down more comedic version of that.
Do you think the Will the Wise cloak used to go down to Will's feet while in season 3 it stops above his ankles? Do you think Will has to put on the Will the Wise hat and secure it with hairclips? Do you think the handle of his Will the Wise staff is lower than his normal holding height because it used to be the correct height for him but he just got taller and so he now instinctively grabs the staff above the handle? Do you think that that's also why the staff looks just a little shorter than it probably should be? Do you think him and Joyce made the Will the Wise costume when he was younger and then he grew and he still tried to fit into it and it worked for a time even though it was a little smaller on him than before, until he eventually grew a lot during his time in California and then it didn't fit him at all anymore? Do you think Mike kept the costume in the basement, together with all their other dnd costumes and then he gave it to Will once they got back to Hawkins, because he might not be able to get Will all his clothes from California back but he still has his costume? Do you think Will then kept it all these years, unable to bring himself to give it away or throw it out even though it didn't fit him anymore? Do you think many, many years later his daughter dresses up as a sorcerer for Halloween in his old Will the Wise costume? Do you think it's maybe a little big on her, the hat slipping over her face, her hand holding the staff under the handle and she's occasionally tripping over the bottom of it, the hem getting dirty as she walks around in it outside for trick-or-treating, but Will doesn't care, he really doesn't care that it's got dirt and little kid's footprints on it because he can't stop crying? Do you think "Dad, why is Daddy crying?" "Don't worry sweetie, he's crying because he's happy"— do you think- do you- ah‐!!
Do you think Will and Lucas and Dustin and Mike dressed up as their dnd characters for Halloween one year and that's when they all made the costumes and then they all grew up and so much happened and yet Will kept his costume because he knew it was important, it meant a lot to him and he knew he was gonna need it again one day and then it's Halloween 2009 and his and Mike's daughter wants to dress up as the little purple figure from dad's painting so badly and Will searches their house for hours until he finally finds it in a box with stuff he had almost forgotten about and he shows the costume to her and she puts it on and can't stop giggling in excitement and Will suddenly knows why he kept that costume, it was for this exact moment <333
for real tho it feels exhausting that ive seen this whole "woman should be allowed to abstain from X beauty standard" -> "i perform X beauty standard, am i evil? do you think im evil? please forgive me i came up with a dozen excuses 🥺" since like 2015 (and i know its been going on longer than that) like girl thats not the poiiiiint
look me in the eyes. repeat after me. "i face societal pressure to perform this beauty standard. i should not face that pressure. i conform to this standard. i am rewarded for performing to this standard. i need to respect women who do not perform this standard. this is not about whether or not i am a sinner for wearing makeup."
a picture that’s worth a thousand words
