Clark could understand where Matt was coming from, he could SYMPATHIZE with that inner NEED to know about yourself, to see others like you. While he could feel for the creature, it was a sentiment heâd long given up on. Besides, the less of him there wereâthe less attention was focused on his kind. It was HARDLY a competition, but he nearly felt the need to mention that zombie-like creatures were far less demonized than, well, demons.
âIt does get tedious explaining things.â he reached for his mug again, paused there with his lips at the rim. He squinted a bit, furrowed his brows, and withdrew the mug a bit to add something more. âHowever, the general misconceptions and overall lack of information of my kind does work in my favor at times.â
No, he wouldnât very much like it if he woke up the next day and cambion were the next big creature to hit the movie and TV screens of the human world. âI understand your struggle, however I canât say I share the want for such a thing.â he finally finished his sip and went back to his emails. Not long after, he was closing everything down and gently shutting the device.Â
âI donât partake much in film.â a BLATANT lie. His interests were not those that he shared, especially considering the nature of his preferred film genres. âAnything that is popular right now is a good place to start. It seems you usually have a 50/50 shot of it actually being worth all the talk it received.â everything was neatly packed into his laptop bag and he then set that itself upon the table.
âIf youâre really that interested in seeinâ someone, I could put in a few words around my circle.â he didnât know many others like Matt, but he was a well connected man and someone he was in contact with was bound to know of more. âIâm not going to play matchmaker, but I can try and put you into contact with others like you. Itâd be your own decision as to where you take things from there.â
âLack of information works when you wanna stay hidden from humans, thatâs true. But at the same time it leaves newbies to the world clueless and lost. Like me for example. I donât know how I exist, or why. And Iâve already been scolded for trying to dig up info.â A not so subtle little jab at Clark and his overprotectiveness, but he doubted the male would be ruffled by it. In fact he rarely saw him ruffled by anything, except maybe Mattâs eating habits.Â
He pouted as his attempt at a lighter topic flopped, hiding his disappointment by wandering off to find a dustpan. Clark may be the only other non-human he knew and was close to, but it didnât seem like the cambion was interested in being friends. Matt brushed it off as just keeping things professional, swallowing the pang of loneliness and trying to stay chipper as he returned to his task. âYouâre probably right. Maybe thereâs something to all the hype. I was just curious. So are you more of a book guy? TV maybe?â he prodded, wanting to learn more about his mysterious employer.
âYouâd really do that? For me? Wow, thatâd be...awesome!â he replied honestly, though the thought of it suddenly prickled at his nerves. Dating another ghoul might make things a lot easier, but dating in general always gave him the willies. What if there was only one other in his area and he managed to mess it up? If he wasnât feeling lonely before... âDoesnât have to be right now though. You can like...put the word out if you want, see if anything comes up. But no pressure. Got enough going on right now as it is, right?â he snorted. To say he was a mess would be an understatement, it was a wonder why the cambion managed to put up with him as much as he did.
