He looked around. The area was beautiful, but it was open, much too open for his liking. Perhaps that was why he had such an agitated demeanor. Still, he felt like a rabbit under the watchful eyes of a hawk. Open areas always bothered him but now, undisguised with someone who was also in hiding, he fretted.
"Yeah.” Shuichi smirked slightly, it bitter. “You may not like me at all by the end of this.”
When it was said and done, he faked a lot of stuff when he was in the Org., between his family history, work situation, name, and certain traits. He didn’t fake some of his skills, such as his sniping, but that was necessary for the job. But he did fake personality traits and that was part of what he was worried about. Along with that, their relationship started on false pretenses, ended tragically and, though she was alive and had come back, there was still a lot of pain there that needed time to heal. They couldn’t just talk for a few hours and everything be back to normal. And he didn’t want to draw attention to her and make her a target because of it.
(Perhaps the current idea in the back of his mind had something to do with all those factors.)
“So, how’re we going to talk about this, anyway?”
“Well, for starters we can go inside. I’m not exactly fond of staying out in the open. I’m already in so much trouble if my contact knows I went out without her knowing.”
She led the way while looking over her shoulder, offering a small smile, hoping he would lower his guard in her presence.
The house was small, enough for one person to live comfortably, there was a small living room with a tv, a white kitchen with modern appliances and a small table for two.
She gestured towards it, “Take a seat, I’ll put some water to boil.”
She moved with haste, like she was working on borrowed time. Which she probably was considering he could leave any moment he wanted.
She quickly put the water and went back to the table and sat across from him and stared at him, willing the words to come; to break the tension.
“Have you heard anything from Shiho-chan?”
There. It had begun.
