a talking point i often see when defending the consumption of dark content is that it’s a coping mechanism for those with trauma which is very valid and true but i also want to make this abundantly clear: you can like dark content for no reason. you can enjoy fucked up shit in fiction because it’s enjoyable and entertaining. trauma is not required as a ticket for entry. enjoy your dark content bc it’s fun and sexy and don’t let anyone take that away from you

The Sorcerer Supreme

I've been really into Doctor Strange the last several months for some reason. I think aside from Superman, he's my favorite comic book character these days. I've been diving into both his classics and his ongoing series and really enjoying them.

With this piece I did something different. For my superhero art I usually do giant blocks of color, but this time I did it more like one of my elder scrolls pieces with ink and water color pens.

Hmm, clever rebuttal, clever rebuttal…what could I say…Oh! I know! How about “anon hate is cowardly and your attempt at bullying me won’t work”? Or perhaps “your insecurities regarding your own ship are glaringly obvious in the manner in which you choose to express your disdain for other ships, especially those that purportedly pose no threat to your ship”? Or should I have responded by reminding you that YOU came into MY blog, knowing that I am not a supporter of your ship, in order to taunt me about the “weakly supported” meta for my ship, and therefore any response I made aside from simply deleting your ask is more than you deserved? No? Still not happy? OK, then perhaps you wanted me to remind you that I am comfortable with my ship and don’t require it to be canon in order to enjoy it? Or that I believe everyone has the right to ship what they enjoy, and to enjoy what they ship, without shitting all over others who disagree with them?

Or perhaps I should say to you what I would say to any child of mine who pulled this sort of rude nonsense..

Someone liked this post recently so I thought I would remind folks that, not long after I posted it, the original anon came back into my Asks and apologized, very sincerely, for getting so caught up in the TJLC madness that they'd basically forgotten their manners. And this was well before S4 and the idiocy of "Secret 4th Episode" and "JL is End Game" had the fandom whipped into a frenzy by the TJLC inciters.

As for me, I want to offer my own sincere apologies to anyone I may have been toxic to (never anon, mind you, NEVER anonymously) during the heyday of the "your ship sucks because it isn't THE ship" nonsense many of us survived. Not all of my responses were measured and I know I sometimes fell into the trap of allowing myself to be taunted into retaliatory posts.

I will always defend my ship and anyone's right to ship whomever they please, but that doesn't give me free rein to shit on anyone else.
