Being the parent of a child with mental illness is challenging and filled with moments. Some are beautiful, as you watch them succeed in ways that you never thought would happen.

Others are heartbreaking. When they hurt and struggle. When they make unwise choices. When they lash out at you. When standing up for yourself or telling them something they don’t like.

I was looking forward to spending time with Mini-Me this weekend. We lasted less than 24 hrs before she left.

Hurt doesn’t begin to explain what I’m feeling. I’m lost...worried. As per usual when mad she’s blocked me from all social media and won’t answer if I texted to find out if she’s safe and okay.

It’s a familiar cycle. We’ve been down this path before. Within a few months she will talk to me again as if nothing happened.

Tonight though...tears stream down my face, anxiety claws at me and I’m staring into a long night ahead of me.
