It’s been officially officially a week and a day since Muskrat Jamboree, and I just had to say how absolutely amazing that teeny con was, and how much I LOVED meeting you all and the wackiness that we managed to cram into that weekend in a fancy hotel (and terrorizing the poor other convention that was there on Friday).

I’ve made a resolution to have more of an online presence again and of course a part of that is because of you marvelous Muskrats!  A super amazing shout out to feowyn, drglam and bleep0bleep you lovely ladies following me before I managed to get a computer and my contact list in the same place at the same time.  You win quadruple points!

Now I’ll go off and pester the LJ in a bit, I feel the mighty need for a due South rewatch fest movement or something something that will not be easily sated :D

Thank you, dear muskrats, from the very bottom of our hearts, for helping to make this past weekend spectacular. Our goal was to go out with a bang and we hope you feel like we accomplished that. It's been a hell of a ride, from a sketchy Holiday Inn in Somerville to the excellent Muskradisson downtown to the lovely Le Meridien in Cambridge. We appreciate every single one of you - the all-five-MJs Original Muskrats, those of you who made it to a few, and those of you for whom this year was your very first Jamboree. We've said it all along: the con is what you make of it, and you all made the most of it. Thank you, again, to all of our fantastic volunteers, to all of our dedicated panel mods, to our friends who volunteered time and services to help support our varied needs, to our generous donors who created the Muskrat Scholarships. To all of you who donated the items to our raffle, and to all of you who bought raffle tickets. To all the vidders who let us show their vids. Special thanks to jamwingles, who valiantly led the last muskrat rendition of Barrett's Privateers. And to estrella30, for creating the Muskrat Memories book and making us cry with her speech at the vid show. Eight years, five jamborees. Dance parties, vid shows, room parties, flash panels, and so much love, you can't even quantify it. It's been a fantastic run. Thank you for helping us go out on a high note. (And we're sure the ACTUAL Muskrat Jamboree in Inuvik will be very, very happy to get their event back.) If you didn't get a chance to sign the Muskrat Memories book, feel free to comment here with your favorite memories from MJ - we'd love to hear from you. Muskrats, it may no longer be go time (with an arrow. pointing down.), but you can't say we didn't give it our all. We hope you've enjoyed it as much as we have.

CRAFT TABLE!

HEY MUSKRATS! One of the silliest, most creative parts of the con is the Muskrat Craft Table. When you’re between panels, looking for something to do, or just feeling creative, the Craft Table will be set up and WAITING for you. In the past, people have made collages, hats, masks, hand turkeys, paper necklaces, the works! We’ll provide basic art supplies as well as construction paper, stickers, and your favorite fannish photos you can decorate, enhance, beautify, and/or deface. In order to make it the most fun, entertaining table we can, I need a little help from YOU. Otherwise, the table will be covered in pictures of Harry Styles caressing Ian McKellan. I mean, that IS going on the craft table, don’t get me wrong, but no one wants ONLY that on the table. Except me. Who do you want to see on the craft table? I am looking for photos, preferably good quality, and not defaced (YET!). I’m looking for a mix of old favorites and new friends, anyone you think would be fun to craft with! And hey, if you have things or crafts you think would be fun that you haven’t seen in previous years, feel FREE to suggest them! Hi Muskrats!  

The MJ con comm has received another offer for THREE more Muskrat Scholarships from two fabulous, generous souls. They have offered to fund to pay the registration fees for three people who would like to attend MJ but who are unable to afford to pay for the registration. This fantastic offer benefits not just the recipients of the scholarships, but also MJ2015 itself - we still have a few registration slots left open and without a full contingent of muskrats, financing the convention gets more challenging for the con comm. Due to that fact, plus being only five weeks from the con and well past the cancellation cut-off date, we are only able to offer these scholarships to new attendees, not previously-registered folks. If you are eighteen years old or older and would like to come to Muskrat Jamboree 2015 but do not have the funds to pay for the registration fee, please send an email to [email protected] with the subject line "Yes, I would like to go to MJ2015!" and include your username (be it your LJ, twitter, tumblr, AO3, your real name, whathaveyou) and your age statement ("I certify that I am 18 years or older." or "I certify that I am 21 years or older.") in the body of the email. The MJ con comm will choose three recipients at random. The three scholarship recipients will each have their registration fee covered by the scholarships - we'll just need you to email us your real life name for registration purposes and you will be a fully registered MJ2015 attendee! To help in your decision-making: general convention info is here and hotel info is here. Please note: these scholarships cover only the cost of the registration fee. Hotel, travel, and any other costs are not covered. If you are interested in applying, the deadline to apply is this coming Saturday, February 14th, 2015, at 12midnight Eastern time. The three scholarship recipients will be announced here on the MJ LJ comm on Sunday, February 15th.

PANELS ARE COMING

MUSKRATS, BRACE YOURSELVES.  THE MOST EXCITING PART OF THE MJ LEADUP IS UPON US!

On January 30th, part one of the panel selection process will COMMENCE with the official Panel Suggestions post!  Every year, Muskrats come up with some of the most insightful, hilarious, and interesting topics and we cannot WAIT to see what’s coming this time around!!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the MJ panel suggestion and selection process, our panels are 100% nominated by and voted on by our attendees. The con comm does not choose the panels - YOU do, via an exciting voting process! This means that it is up to YOU, our attendees, to come up with the best panel ideas possible!

Some important reminders:

You MUST have an LJ login in order to vote! On the main LJ page (www.livejournal.com) you just click JOIN at the top of the page and it will walk you through the process. LJ also offers the option for you to login using other social media accounts (twitter, facebook, etc.) - info on that is on the JOIN page.

Only con attendees can suggest panels! This con is for our attendees - you must be registered for the con in order to suggest a panel.

MJ2015 Scheduling Overview!

Muskrats! It's just about NINE WEEKS 'til Muskrat Jamboree 2015! We wanted to give you a quick scheduling overview, for your advance-planning needs. More detailed stuff is to come, but this is just so you know with what you are working, time-wise. MJ2015 is an age 18+ convention. You must be a registered attendee and have your name badge visible in order to have access to any con space (including the con suite, panel rooms, dance party, and vid show). No unregistered guests will be admitted - this includes children, friends, etc. Badges are not replaceable, sharable, or transferable.  Registration takes place: Thursday, March 19, 7PM - 8:30PM in The Loft (off of the hotel lobby) Friday, March 20, 8AM - 4PM, reg table outside the con suite, 3rd floor Saturday, March 21, 9AM - 5PM, reg table outside the con suite, 3rd floor Please note: You must pick up your registration packet during those times. There will not be the possibility of picking up your registration packet other than at the stated times. If you are unable to do so during those times, you may arrange for a fellow con-goer to pick it up for you. You must email muskratjamboree at gmail dot com to let us know who will be doing the pick-up for you.
