WHAT IS A CUP SLEEVE EVENT?

WHO AM I?

I’m Maddy! My main blog is @yesmaddyposts , and I have been a fan of MJ’s music since I was a child with a recent deeper interest in his career thanks to the Michael biopic!

My fandom background is mainly in K-Pop. I was one of the admins for the Twitter account Armyween2020 , a month-long collection of online events for BTS fans to celebrate Halloween during the COVID-19 lockdown. We hosted online movie nights, game nights, giveaways, and more for Halloween in 2020 and 2021, and the winter holiday season in 2020, which we called ARMYWEEN and ARMY WINTER respectively.

WHY A DIGITAL CUP SLEEVE EVENT FOR MICHAEL JACKSON?

I love community! I think the MJ fandom is so big and growing daily with social media connecting more people than ever. This would be a fun way to bring fans together to celebrate our love for Michael Jackson in a positive, no-pressure way.

It is digital rather than in person to be more accessible to people, and also because I don’t have the resources to host an in-person event.

WHAT WILL THE EVENT INCLUDE?

I am aiming high for this event! The details are not set in stone but I hope to have primarily free activities for fans, including:

A FREE digital cup sleeve PDF download for fans to print and cut out at home

An online movie night (or marathon?) on 8/29/2026 to watch a Michael Jackson film

A music streaming party using a dedicated playlist of Michael Jackson songs

As well as some optional paid activities too, such as working with a few small businesses / Etsy Shop vendors to create MJ themed merch for fans to purchase if they want

HOW TO HELP

This is a big idea that will take a lot of time. I don’t mind doing it because it would also be a lot of FUN, but I also would need reasonable belief that the audience for an event like this is out there. Real talk though, I think fandoms can be a very overwhelming place to navigate with lots of stress. The bigger a group is, the more people with opinions and differences there is going be, and it can be difficult not to get caught up in it. It might dissuade you from making friends or creating content, it might make you not want to interact with anyone or anything, it might make you afraid to be happy.

That’s one of the reasons I want to put together this MJ Digital Cup Sleeve! I want to have something in this space where people can just have fun, be themselves, and be reminded of the joy Michael Jackson has brought and continues to bring us all.
