“ your hammer ? ” tony purses his lips and tries not to roll his eyes at the mention of rogers . “ maybe you’re not worthy anymore . ” says it as a passing thought , but the longer he holds onto it , the more concerning it is . “ i mean —— it’s still yours , right ? you’re still the worthy one ? ”
Thor shot Tony a deeply offended look. “Of course I am still worthy!” he barked, thrusting it high into the air for good measure. The nerve. “I can still use it. Just not to get back home.”

pietro held his head in shaking hands, his body hunched over his lap. his feet tapped, fingers dug in against his skull. “ no. ” he replied quietly, a sickening feeling clunt to him, curled up in the pit of his stomach and remained there. he’d had to be pulled from the burning building, in there until the last second. “ it is my fault – i wanted to go after stryker… to kill him. how could they capture him?! he is a god! it doesn’t make any sense. ”
“Not to mention that Loki is a TRICKSTER! How on Earth can any mortal, let alone ones as stupid as they are, design a trap so infallible it allows them to capture a DEMIGOD?” Thor let out a low growl. “This is nobody’s fault but THEIRS. If you had tried to kill him, they would’ve captured you too.” His pacing came to an abrupt stop and he punched the doorframe in frustration, taking a chuck out of the paintwork with his strength.
The moment Jane heard that Loki had been taken, her mind went straight to Thor. Maybe it was selfish in the slightest, or maybe it was because she knew how Thor would react, but he was what she needed to get to. However, it wasn’t until late in the evening when she finally was able to get him alone. The whole day he seemed to be talking to other heroes, probably ranting furiously about how they would rescue his brother. And who was she to cut in? An astrophysicist from Culver City with no superhuman abilities whatsoever. Jane, as much as she wanted to, knew that she would be no help in Loki’s rescue. It made her feel guilty, but mostly useless in these cases. The best she could do was stay out of the way and give them whatever assistance they needed regarding whether patters of those of the sort.
It was nearly one in the morning and Thor was still up by the sound of his pacing and exasperated sighs just outside the bedroom door. Maybe he didn’t want to see her, but she should at least give him the choice. Sliding herself away from the desk she used which was now covered in various books and maps of a particularly interesting supernova, Jane quietly opened the door and looked up at the god who looked more nervous than she had seen him before. God, she really should have planned what she was going to say beforehand because all she could think of in that moment was, “Can I show you something?” in which she asked in a small, concerned voice while taking his hand in hers and leading him back into the room. Perhaps the sky could calm him down as much as it did for her.
After she shut the door behind the two of them, she let go of his hand to push the bed up to the windowpane so the blue glow of the moon illuminated the sheets. Luckily bed frames in the seventies weren’t as heavy and anchored as those she was used to, so Jane was able to move it easily enough. She then situated herself on the mattress in front of the window, patting the space beside herself for him to join. This was stupid, he’d probably take one look at her and just go back to pacing, and with good reason. Still, she was going to at least try to see if this would work. “You haven’t been still all day, you’ll wear yourself out by the morning so I’d at least like it if you could sit.” Jane was sure he hadn’t eaten either, but that was another matter.

Loki’s kidnapping had been the undoing of Thor. He’d faced beasts more terrible than most could even comprehend and saved entire realms from destruction, but this - getting his little brother back, only to lose him again like grains of sand slipping through his fingers - was a struggle greater than anything he’d never faced before.
And that was on top of being STUCK here while the Infinity Stones were potentially ripping apart their future.
His fixation on the events of the past few days was so intense that he failed to notice Jane opening the door, only becoming aware of her presence when she spoke and took his hand. He didn’t say anything, instead letting her silently lead him into the room, expression still pensive.
His gaze softened as he watched her sit on the bed, bathed in soft moonlight. The silvery glow highlighted her features and Thor’s mind drifted to happier things: thoughts about how lucky he was to love and be loved by someone so beautiful, inside and out. It flickered back to Loki for a moment, and how he should be out there FINDING him, but he was powerless to say no to Jane; she was both his weakness and his strength. He sat down beside her, a soft sigh escaping his lips, and drank in the view beside him. “What is it you wish to show me?”
Thor was pacing around the room, fists clenched tight at his sides. “They can do as they wish, but I am NOT going to sit around here and BROOD while my only brother is in the hands of the ENEMY. Do you have any idea where they took him?”

Adam was quickly growing weary of this whole ordeal, and sighed as he noticed a few SWAT trucks pull up near him, and several units pouring out of the vehicle. He quickly dashed in between them and the other people trying to keep the peace. After they opened fire on him for a moment, he sighed as they stopped
“A valiant effort, really. But hey, my turn now, right?” he said with a grin as he leveled his fingers like a gun at the men, quickly firing several stun bolts from his hand, leaving about half of them unconscious. “ Now, I’ve got plenty more if you’re interested?” he said as he stared them down.
Thor watched the display, fairly impressed by the man’s skill. Not one to be outdone, he stepped forward and thrust Mjolnir towards the sky, attracting a chain of lightning to the surface of the uru. “You may include the wrath of THE MIGHTY THOR in that ultimatum!” Not one of his slickest deliveries, to say the least.

natasha grabbed her guns, unsure what the hell to do with them when she couldn’t exactly open fire on a whole squad of human beings. “ obviously. ” she shook her head, dodging a shot sent her way. “ where the hell is rogers?! ”
Thor deflected two bullets with his hammer as another bounced off his armour. “I think he went with the others to the base.” The pounding of heavy artillery forced him to raise his voice. “Perhaps it would be wise to move out of the path of fire, no?”

Freddy nodded, face falling easily into seriousness. “Are you bullet proof?” He asked before flying down right into the line of fire. He knew he couldn’t save everyone, but this might keep a few people from getting shot. After all, they just i impacted with him then fell. “Don’t you see that you’ll kill people if you keep this up!” He called to the swat team. While he tried to look confident, it was also clear this horror show pained him.
Thor watched the other dive down into the firing line, quickly following him when he realised his plan. “For Odin’s sake, I don’t have time for this,” the god mumbled to himself, irritated. Though he’d never admit it, it wasn’t very often that Thor found himself as the one with common sense, but this was an exception. He swooped down and grabbed the boy by his collar, hauling him back up into the air and onto a nearby rooftop. “I want you to listen to me very carefully, Midgardian,” he started when they landed. “Those people down there have one goal: end this battle by any means necessary -- and YES, that means killing people. Talking isn’t going to convince them of anything, so if you actually want to help, then get those civilians out of there. Understood?”

natasha was with thor when the gunfire started, a bullet whizzed past her head as she just about dodged out of its way. “ they’re aiming at us. ” she snapped, and a hand curled around the gun by her hip. “ what’s worse? being attacked by aliens or your fellow man? ”
Thor re-positioned himself so the two of them were back-to-back. He settled into a fighting stance, calling Mjolnir to his side with a single hand. “I assume your question is rhetorical, Natasha,” came the reply. “I am alien to you, am I not?”
worldsmightiestboy:
“Superheroics.” Freddy was aware of the battle below but he had learned over the years that he had to take time to smile or else be consumed by guilt.
Just as Thor was about to scoff a reply, gunshots rang out clear below. A team of SWAT cars had pulled up and were firing at the mutants. He turned back to the boy and jerked a head towards the scene. “This may be the time to put those superheroics of yours to the test.”
