Hi Cari!
Cari's blog is all about stress and anxiety in college students, which is SUPER RELEVANT TO MY LIFE RIGHT NOW.
Okay, so here are three facts about her topic and how it relates to me. (I think it's pretty obvious how it relates to me, because I'm really behind on these Tumblr posts because of MAJOR STRESS YO.)
1. Anxiety can be either situational or a chemical imbalance.
Recently, my anxiety has been situational, but in the past it has been chemical. Because I have been dealing with anxiety for my whole life (it runs in my family), I have found ways to help manage it like going to the gym on a regular basis and calling my mom.
2. Based on the graph of patients being treated for anxiety and other related conditions, it appears that about 5.5% of females ages 15-24 and 2.8% of males ages 15-24 are being treated for anxiety
I was in that 5.5% until this year! I started going to the gym more regularly because I live right next door to it here at school, and that helped my anxiety SIGNIFICANTLY. I even notice a change when I don't have time to go to the gym that my anxiety skyrockets, and I can barely get anything done.
3. Those with significant amounts of perfectionism may be more prone to anxiety.
When I was younger, I was a severe perfectionist. I would beat myself up about not getting a perfect grade, and hang onto that frustration until I drove myself crazy. I think that was, in part, due to the fact that I went to a private school that put A LOT of pressure on students to do well. In addition, I was always considered a "smart" person, so everyone hadvery high expectations for me. It was a difficult process, but I learned that I don't need to be perfect in everything.
