"Confessional" media examples

In this video by CUT channel, 100 people tell a secret publicly on film. This strikes me as confessional because the people who go on this video usually do not know what prompt they are given and many of them seemed embarrassed to admit their secret.

A couple months ago, Ned Fulmer from the Try Guys, confessed the affair he had with one of his employees on the team. After the affair surfaced, Ned was kicked off the Try Guys team. This is a form of confessional media because he admitted that he was in the wrong and apologizes to his wife and to his coworkers and the company as a whole.

Intro

Hello! My name is Mai.

I am interested in exploring creative media such as podcasts, film, and arts and ironically, less interested in blogging. I am interested in exploring new skills because I do not have a lot of experience with media but it is something I have always found interesting.

I never thought much about the concept of "confession," but I definitely think it plays a large role in social media and our perception of each other. In our friendships and relationships, I think this idea takes a different role. For me, it is a lot easier to say things to people you don't know so personally, because there is an option to never see them again. Confessing something to people you care about is more of a challenge. This idea of "authenticity" is just as interesting and overrating. Confessing on social media can test this idea of "authenticity" with people being more open to sharing their emotions. I think this is part of a larger cultural movement of "authenticity" that young people participate in especially.
