oh i also forgot to mention that his dad would yell at him because he wasn't growing (he was short most of his life until like junior or senior yr of high school) (this is about jarren btw)

i never understand why people are so weird about that like what's he supposed to do about it 😭

ok i am not a jarren duran defender by any means but after i watched the documentary with my brother, his parents especially his dad was borderline abusive

like throwing baseballs at your son who's like 7 or 8 because he's not doing that well

why do parents feel the need to groom their kids into becoming professional athletes

im sorry maybe it's just because i grew up doing soccer and despite having a soccer dad he NEVER did anything like that to me or any of my other siblings who did sports (and i have a brother who did baseball for 8 years)

no like i totally get this. it's crazy how parents will just straight up abuse their kids, let them into the world, and then expect them to be just fine. i think jarren is (unfortunately) a good example of this.

i'm mostly indifferent towards him but i am so glad that he is very transparent about his mental health and is a strong advocate for it!

a few years back my family and i went to philly for a braves/phillies game and my mom somehow booked the same hotel the players stayed at.

freddie would get mad when anyone got near him and he literally rolled my eyes at my dad when he saw he was wearing a braves t shirt (my dad has been a braves fan since the day he was born and he was so upset about this interaction)

on the other hand, stephen vogt (now the manager of the guardians) was super kind and held the elevator door for my whole family despite the fact that he had all his luggage and gear with him. love that man

someone once told me that they saw her at a game and they thought she was actually his brothers girlfriend because of how touchy feely they were acting in the stands 😭

yes triston is a ray of sunshine! easily one of my favorite players in the league. such a shame he's out for the season :(
