Ladies & Gentleman,
Here is your "New Radicals"...
Gregg Alexander - The Truth
Feb. 2014
FYI: Your beloved greggy "alexander" Aiuto is a full blown plagiarist (i.e. bullsh!t ripoff "artist"/ cheat/ thief/ sociopathalogical liar/ fraud/ imposter) of the lowliest order. He ruthlessly plagiarized the entirety of the music and most of the melody of this "Get What You Give" song from legitimate songwriters/musicians down in Austin, TX back in November of 1997:
Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.
Understand this: you as a casual observer/listener probably don't concern yourself w/ the higher order ethical concepts & ideologies associated w/ a pop song but u might be wondering; how did "GWYG" come to exist? The answer is simple, that greggy boy is typically sad manipulator w/ no ethical principals whatsoever. Allow me to elaborate:
Way back when (late 80s/early 90s), Greg was an actually legitimate, albeit god awful musician/singer & pops daddy Rick "Complicit & Complacent" Nowels had him under his proverbial "wing". Rick couldn't do anything for his fancy boy gregg commercially though...the inroads he had opened for greggy weren't there for the greg's material (even after a 2nd MI pain/intoxoflop dumb money rehash attempt). Greg's stuff sucked SO hard. So...that hootchie gregg, having become so desperate for a way back "in" to the "industry" he was getting accustomed to (i.e. living the pop life & being a kiss-ass bizling), took himself down to the ATX circa 11/1997 under the auspices of a corporate chore boy to shore-up & attach his self to Abra Moore (post 4 Leaf Clover success) for Clive Davis's AristaAustin roster (pre-Jive records move) & to commence his slurping on other people's successes & talents. That's when he stumbled across a true stroke of originality; the original music & melody of the "GWYG" that you know & love.
Here's where he gets slippery: On November 7th/8th 1997 gregg was spotted surreptitiously recording us in the hall outside our rehearsal space at the Austin band co-op. He was in earshot unfortunately & heard us running thru "GWYG". I guess him's greedy greggy self just had to possess it like it was his precious or personal karaoke track or something. He was straight up busted & confronted about the bootleg rehearsal taping as he retreated (lying & denying everything of course) into his unit at the co-op where...he hid-out & began to premeditate his unthinkable little scam. Cut to the part where himself has to pour over said bootleg to work up his counterpoint melody & weasel himself into our mix.
The intro/song arrangement/ keyboards/ chord progressions/ key changes/ back beat/ melodic song structure (his vocal line)/ bass line/ guitar & "solo" (minus the added studio guitar trills) were all plagiarized in full. He even mimicked the screamed over sheer volume inflection of the count-off to "GWYG" & if a count-off is considered lyrics, he also plagiarized some of the lyrics.
Then for his next trick...he absconds w/ our raw instrumental demo (now w/ himself on vox) straight back to pops daddy Rick. I betcha he played this version for 'ol Rick; a practically impossible live 1 take w/ 4 instruments that he couldn't have physically preformed by himself if it wasn't "written" yet or any of his hired studios/ players weren't involved yet (make no mistake they were all hired & paid in full despite G's phony hard up backstory). He had to have had the original bootleg recording of us to relate the song's form to Rick. I also betcha the sound quality of said bootleg was rough, like the music was recorded in the hall then 2-tracked w/ an overdubbed vocal rough.
So what did Rick Nowels allegedly contribute to deserve a writing credit? Except for the addition of the lyrics, sticking his radorkulous bouncy piano (where the bad-ass edgy Roland Juno 6 keyboard was originally) in front of everything, some minor production flourishes, & greggie's counterpoint response to the call & response melody its the EXACT SAME SONG/TUNE that it was when it was plagiarized in full.
This fact totally implicates Rick because gregg didn't play keyboards, not on the "MYBBT" album track or on any of his previous work. The simple fact that "GWYG" is a total keyboard song (written on keys/ keyboard melody etc.) implies that the "professional" Rick must have realized the fundamental keyboard component was technically unprecedented coming from Greg when he heard the original bootleg "demo".
Maybe greggy just let Rick write-out the rest of "GWYG" for him (read: complicit patsy) and didn't even have 2 do a thing...a virtually flawless parasitic manipulation, except for 1 thing: now you know the extremely uncool truth about gregg & rick.
Understand now: 'ol greggy has no problem ripping off legitimate musicians, he also ripped off the English band XTC's work. Here is that known precedent: "The drums on the The New Radicals debut album's Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too title track were sampled from the XTC song 'All of a Sudden' (from their English Settlement album)". According to XTC's songwriter Andy Partridge, "the sample was used without permission" and the band and its record company eventually received £70,000 in compensation for its use (XTC smacked his commandeering ass down to the tune of $85000.00). Apparently XTC could afford to effectively litigate.
All greggy had to do was simply rope (manipulate & risk) his goombah industry insider contact's good name (Rick) into "co-writing" a composition that was already written (practically guaranteeing his inside fast track corporate bead). Then re-record the tune (i.e. wuss it way out w/ his overproduced studio production vibe) & abracadabra...just slap some syllables where the exact keyboard melody notes already are (some juvenile & hypocritically disrespectful "words")...slopped up some typically lame greggy filler (his fail wave stuff or vague attempts at emulating our sound) to round out the LP (sloppily ripping-off XTC's drum tracks in the rush to rip & release "GWYG" as a single). Then, 1 graceless, deceitful, dishonorable, & conniving lie later...ta-da! Just like stupid evil magic, that little bizling was back "in" & its been his special brand of girly poof coat-tailed onto someone else's legitimate thing ever since (& yes, The Santana/ Ms. Branch/ A. Lev's carried greggy every other time greggy did anything that wasn't forgettable). His avarice, greed, deceitful connivance, & janky pop lust won the hour.
Now U see: gregg only used our "GWYG" as a show pony tool to manipulate his goombah industry insider contact into facilitating his return to the industry that cast him off (he was SO desperate for anything to get back "in" being an already dropped 2x loser at 28 years of age). Then, after pulling off his shameless little rope & ride pops daddy Rick back "in" scam...he proceeded to lame out on the touring circuit (thusly laming out our original live waveform) & completely disregarded & abandoned "GWYG" (incredibly). He didn't seem to mind leaving people (his own included) hanging at GooGoo Dolls '99 Atlanta, GA 'cuz "its not for" him. So much for paying dues & respects. He knew he could just sit back on his stolen laurels like the store bought band image hustler he is & be a corporate scribe after his dinky touring stint.
Technically: he wasn't commercially valid in his own write until 2003 (not like he would have had the wherewithal/ credibility to achieve ANY of his later successes w/out the initial success of "GWYG"). He never had any real musical connection to "GWYG" (it was just a stolen tool instrumental yet incidental to his scam). Sadly, he also had no real connection 2 U or your fandom/ respects, ya'll were just his little tool fool sucker chumps.
Basically: that bulbous headed, Nosferatu looking, geeked-up, weasel chimp gregg wasn't capable of creating the kind of power pop material he (the hard-up Gro$$e Point, MI kid) needed SO badly to break thru his own wall of suck...so he just plagiarized someone else's work note for bloody replicated note, but could never follow-up the pure power pop of "GWYG"'s original sound (that's 'cuz he never had that power to begin with).
Anyways, please enjoy the enduring power & beauty of a true original music/ sound composition & this, his phony facsimile artifice version. Regardless of the plastic screwjack he sold you, it's still our original waveform vibration you hear & feel.
Some of the YouTube comments/replies:
Juan Binckoski Wrote: You can't possibly prove what you're saying, and the talent this guy has shows in other songs, lucky us millions of people that we still hear them in 2017. If you envy him, then do something better o gtfo
m.LeonardTyson Replied: I have clearly provided the motive, method, & the impetus by which this perp hatched his scheme (the who/what/when/where/how, & why). furthermore, the physical evidence exists that not only puts him at the scene of the crime (the paper trail of his co-op rental, eye witness accounts, & sound recordings) but proves beyond a shadow of a doubt everything I said is biased but true. As far as his talents go...pshh. The only thing he ever did that is musically compelling to me is what he stole from us so...no. I'm not in the least bit envious of a spun-out, dead in the water for years desperate little bizling whose ambition had outstripped his ability. Someone who was willing to betray any & all artistic principals just to further his secret girly poof agenda (gotta love the gregg's $elective moral imperatives). Thanks for trying Jaun. Rock on.
m. LeonardTyson Wrote: The simple fact that he still clings to his pathetic & pathological lie is all the proof we need. He hasn't evolved in the slightest & full on deserves extremely negative karmic retribution. For this reason: his disgraceful & pathological farce is no longer just a function of his subhuman failure desperation, it is now the quintessential sustaining function of his avarice & his cowardly fear of being exposed.

The original guitar "solo" is Steve just staccato chopping the downstroke on the octave bar chord. They added the augmented trills in the studio & recapitulated it twice. Highly suspect a posteriori...i mean, how could I even know that?
I wouldn't be surprised if himself just 2-tracked that exact bootleg & shopped it around in it's raw form...he was forced into the same melodic vocal structure because of the keyboard's sonic prevalence in the mix. It goes w/out saying that same 2-track version is or once was in the possession of everyone involved in it's reproduction.
We understand that there is no human conscience in greggy about this. It's merely the Reptilian R-COMPLEX maintenance strategy (low order thinking) that rules him now. The hammer & burn is The Only thing he will really understand. Sad...

I've been casually hammering on this 'fraidy cat coward since he popped back up in '13. YT rando/Wikiwhack (2/'14) was not the most efficient or effective way of exposing him...
Aussie in LA YT commented: he was ata party where WeaselChimp played/ flaunted a "rough demo" as early as 2/98

From his original girly poof style origins... then after "GWYG", straight back to his girly poof style.

So...(Onlys question) from outta that co-op w/ that 500.00 AK money I loaned 'em (Jan?); when were The Onlys in the new place ruining my spray gun w/ that uncut greenish paint?
Point: That Dude had Plenty of potentially available contact time...he had no intention of approaching us. He had every intention of plagiarising the work w/ malice & forethought.
Since then: removed the wiki track changes link/ added the blatant Foghat ripoff ( 'prolly uncredited on the Album)/ etc...

Remember that joke Gregg said about how he "thought they stole the demos" the 1st time he heard "GWYG" on the RADIO?
Well, he wasn't joking 'cuz yes the "they/he" did in fact do just that.
Also,
Q: How come Santana doesn't have a writing credit on that " game of love" song even though Rick said himself that the song "had no Latin in it" before Santana showed up w/ that lead line?
A: Them dudes have a real deep seated problem w/ the credit.

Technical style point:
Those dimwads also lamed out the ending...they studio slow faded the ending when in fact:
It was originally supposed to drop out hard & slam shut on the "1!2!3!" so as to bring out the crowd's sound into the sonic vacuum of the sound's void.
