welt yang drives me insane because what do you mean he's been lying to the whole express crew for YEARS. march seems to know a bit about his past before the express, but it doesn't seem likely that he told her that, given that he directly tells the trailblazer that he's "just an ordinary white-collar employee" (personally my bet's on shush having snitched to march). he's been by himeko's side for we don't even know how long, and he still hasn't told her about murata himeko, or the fact that he's been anticipating her death since before they even met. he's so compassionate and understanding when it comes to the other crew members' pasts, yet only gives away the safest, barest shreds of his own. but the part that gets me the most?

they don't know his real name. i can't stop thinking about it. it's in the end credits, but he hasn't told a single crew member at all. there's no reason he has to hide it anymore; he's left the dangers and burdens of earth behind. there's no need for him to be Welt, Protector of Humanity anymore because that welt is worlds away. he doesn't even need to use his mother's last name as protection anymore. for the first time since he took on the herrscher core, he could just be Joachim Nokianvirtanen.

but he doesn't. and he won't. and he keeps lying to the people he loves enough to call family.
